Moreover, the food on offer at the school doesn't comply with the directives of a local healthy diet scheme which was initiated in 2011

But it's mostly about being unfair to students at other schools. Uh huh.

Just one example of the foreboding, tyrannical, nightmarish hellhole that is Sweden

And maybe you shouldn't knock Sweden until the schools in the US serve something other than sawdust and old gym mats.

but, no doubt, if this lady is staying within her budget, and meets nutritional standards (TFA doesn't say exactly how she is out of compliance), then leave her alone.

As there are towns in the USA named "Sweden", it is entirely likely that this could have happened in the USA.

And having a socialist government lower standards is par for the course.

/wouldn't be shocked to see this happen here in the US. but after Michele got through with the lunch programs here, knows that there aren't any schools with a good lunch. LOL

I find this interesting that someone did the posting of the link to the story of Mister Harrison of Bergeron in this thread because let me tell you something this was exactly what was to be done by me when I did the entry into the thread because this is what it is sounding as though to me and I can see two sides to this issue because I am the person who sees all issues from one side and then from the other side before being the judge of the issue. The one side of this issue makes the suggestion upon which we will say that the school food should be allowed to have the provision to the students because this is the hard working cook who does the cooking of this and the kids need to eat this. The other side of this says this is not the fair thing to the kids who go to the other schools.

The one side says that kids enjoy good food and this is the good thing because they are not like the children in the United States of the Americas who do the eating of food which satiates the diseased thyroid of them. Now you might be thinking to the self of you MEOW ARE NOT THE PEOPLE WHO DO THE EATING OF THE BAD FOOD MERELY THE LAZY INDIVIDUALS. I will say to you that you are part of the problem because you do not provide the awareness of the thyroid disease. By providing to the students the food upon which tastes good it is possible to establish who has the disease of the thyroid because this individual will eat until which time there is not the stopping of the person. For this reason this side is saying let us provide for them the food so we can do the early catching of who is suffering of the disease of the thyroid of them.

The other side of this is saying look there are others in the country which is Sweden who would prefer to not have the meatballs or the ABBA themed cereal or the Roxette Brand Chicken Nuggets or the gummy fish or the Ace of Chicken Base in the soup of them. However this is what is forced on them because these are the official foods of the country of Sweden and it is the only thing upon which is served in the schools of them. Well that and spotted dick because they get this from England.

i.imgur.com

Anyway so this is the side that is saying that if you will finally do the liberation of the Swedes from the horrible choices of the food then you should do so for all or for none such as the Swedish Three Musketeers but they used the pole axes.

So you are saying well what is the solution of this problem. Listen I am one who sees the two sides and I do not wish for saying anything that would cause the thought of you to be led by me but I think we can all do the agreement that is Sweden had the story of the Harrison Bergeron then this cook would be goosed. LAUGHTER OL!

Lionel Mandrake: (TFA doesn't say exactly how she is out of compliance),

I'm wondering about this part too, since it says the changes to the lunches are to reduce the variety of fruits & vegetables and to go from handmade bread to store-bought bread.

I am wondering if the nutritional guidelines are essentially a quiet subsidy to a local food supplier and she was providing lunches without paying off a contractor.

"A menu has been developed... It is about making a collective effort on quality, to improve school meals overall and to try and ensure everyone does the same," Katarina Lindberg, head of the unit responsible for the school diet scheme, told the local Falukuriren newspaper.

The bureaucrats demand that everyone respect their authoritah. They'll tell you it's about the healthy diet "directive", but if you've ever read a government directive it should be obvious that it's possible to violate the letter of the law while respecting its spirit. This woman's lunches might be every bit as healthy (or more) than what the government demands. But if the directive says she should buy bread from a particular store and she bakes the same product herself, well then she's out of compliance, and we can't have non compliance. For the children's health.

Pea soup and pancakes on Thursday. The single greatest Swedish culinary contribution. Our office lunchroom as adjacent to the school next door's cafeteria. The food all came from one kitchen so I always made sure to stay in and eat there on Thursdays. The other days were meh. At least the lunch beers made up for it.

It's probably because all the food the kids usually get are inspected at some point or another. A lady bringing in fresh bread and veggies sounds great but from an accountability standpoint none of those items are inspected and/or deemed safe.

Does anyone have a proper source for this? The Local's posts often leave out quite a few details, and for this article I can't find any other mention at all (apart from a boatload of right-wing blogs reposting this).

I take it must believe in evolution, because your DERP sure does. Rarely have I seen somebody shift their argument to fit their original nonsense post. Man up, admit you were wrong in your original post. Don't hide behind, "wouldn't be shocked to see this happen here in the US. but after Michele got through with the lunch programs here, knows that there aren't any schools with a good lunch". Seems to me both women are for healthy choices for lunch in schools. Honestly, do you have a problem with healthy food being served at school?

Not necessarily 'not healthy', just not in compliance with whatever their "healthy diet scheme" is. You know how school districts are and how anal-retentive they can be about strict adherence (no matter how stupid it may be).
