Well, as a Red Sox fan I have no horse in the running.  I respect the Yankees, but they are the Yankees.  I have always liked the O's, so I'm going to have to root for them.  Given my past history, that means the O's are DOOMED!  Doomed I tells Ya!  Still, it is refreshing not to give a damn.

There is always next year.

Again, thanks for having a horrible baseball team, Seattle, so that we could trade for Doug Fister.

Which is why I have to leave my house shortly to go watch it at a friend's place.

That's just great, baseball on a channel I can don't have, so I can't record, at 9 in the farking morning. Who the hell wants to watch postseason baseball, anyway?

Oh well, go tigers.

I am disappointed in this trend of moving games to subscription channels; see also the NFL network.

I would think advertisers would have a problem with it, too, since the audience is significantly reduced.

How is this game of baseball played? I truly have no idea.

In regards to the first question, that's what people thought about the O's and Yu Darvish too.

Depends on your provider. MLBN is provided for me free with Dish.

But I agree, that does suck for those who can't watch.

Also, the O's and simply making the playoffs in a division that has the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays.
Even with the extra Wild Card, I don't think anybody predicted that going into this season.

There are two reasons for it:
1) the new wild card added two games to the post-season; two games that weren't in TBS's current contract
2) TBS only has 3 crews. They wouldn't have been able to pull off a 4th game as they are anyway

Yeah, it does suck for those that would have to pay extra for MLBN (I have DirecTV, which I think has the channel as part of basic), but honestly, if you like baseball, even in the offseason, it's damn worth it.

There is a Dodger bar near me that will have the game. Now I have to drink AND watch baseball. Hopefully I have the mental dexterity to pull that off.

As an A's fan, I have to wonder how this could possibly be considered a home field advantage. Still gotta win, though. Nevertheless, fark Bud Selig.

This.

If they don't win one of the first two games a team with "home field" could possibly host one game and be done.

O well,

Go Tigers!

At least it's only this year. Sorta understandable the way things worked out, but it still sucks.

I watched that K streak on TV, it was great.

OK I'm checking out of the thread since I'm recording and don't want spoilers. I'll be back for the later games.

TBS announcers on the Reds/Giants game yesterday surprisingly well spoken and well informed. With Fox or ESPN I usually want to strangle the announcers. No I am not a shill for TBS. Most announcers for national broadcasts covering the Giants sound like they've just learned about the team's existence that morning.

I've felt for a while now, that post-season broadcasts should just take one broadcaster from each teams regular broadcast and put them together. Who knows the teams better than the guys who have called nearly every single game of the year? If you just can't live without a third, find an announcer from a neutral teams broadcast.

MLB.TV needs to have the quad mode for every game. I love being able to see the runners and the pitch. Actually seeing what happened on that wild pitch and why Dirks should have been caught was great.

He honestly reminds me so much of Miguel with Florida in 2003. Miguel was hitting more bombs but he is playing awesome.

That's a good idea. My plan involving Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, a cement mixer, 500 pounds of broken glass and a bag of rock salt was probably over the top.

Looks like today's weather in Baltimore is going to be rainy and in the upper 40.'s by game time. I don't know if they're going to be able to get the game in today
