I read the Florida statutes and I did not see a misdemeanor burglary, just 1st, 2nd, 3rd class felonies. The damage/theft value only came into play for a 1st class felony ($1000). Link 

Chances are pretty good that daddy won't do much smacking of his snowflake with his belt. I'd like some external punishment, more due to intentionally misleading the police/parents and wasting everyone's time than the burglary. Fines, community service, restitution -- that kind of thing.

Well...I suppose there are two factors:
1) I worked for a school district in the Physical Plant office for several years. As far as I know, there was no formal "final sweep" of the buildings.
2) If there were a final sweep, the purpose is probably to make sure that a student is not being left behind after falling asleep or something. Not to catch two kids actively trying to avoid getting caught.

My question is who takes out the trash/cleans the building? Looking at the place on satellite, it isn't a small place. I'd expect a night crew of 2 or 3 custodians emptying garbage, cleaning bathrooms and sweeping floors. I find it hard to believe that these little monsters decided it would be fun to hide for 8 hours until the custodians left.

Did either of the girls look like that guidance counselor in NYC?
