doglover: She had milk bones in her undies.
AdolfOliverPanties: Kate Winslet? No. Not even close. Cate Blanchett maybe.
Jesus McSordid: Not even that. Jeez, standards were low back then.
KiplingKat872: Jesus McSordid: Not even that. Jeez, standards were low back then. She is pretty, there is no denying that. I think in her era she would be considered more pretty than under our own modern standards of beauty. But as men over the age of thirty come to realize, "sexy" is only party in one's physical appearance. Attitude, wit, and a certain ineffable something can make a physically unremarkable woman become the center of attention in a crowded room. Physically Mata Hari's face would be considered "cute" at best, but it was her attitude that made her one of the greatest sex symbols of her time.
KiplingKat872: Jesus McSordid: Not even that. Jeez, standards were low back then. And it is not a matter of "low standards," it is a matter of different standards. Half the women held up as icons of beauty now would be considered skeletal or too undeveloped to men back then. Some of the square jaws favored in women now would be considered manish back then.
Und Becks: As she did so, she hummed the tune of Frankie And Johnny, a hit she and Francis had often sung together to keep up their sprits. What the hell are sprits?

onyxruby: Impressive woman, immortalized as the Bond girl. Reading her bio was fascinating, and I have a hard time thinking of a greater tribute to her that could be made.
DoughyGuy: Hardly a glowing tribute.
silverjets: I'm guessing subby has absolutely no idea who Kate Winslet is.
onyxruby: DoughyGuy: Hardly a glowing tribute.I won't argue your point on the character in the book. My point was more of a general inspiration for the bond girl character in general, vs that particular bond girl. Heck, reading some of her exploits, you might well call her inspiration for some of what James Bond did.

HakunaMatata: Who cares what she looked like...she was amazing! Thanks for the link, never would have known about her otherwise.
