STUPID LYING REPUBLICAN PIECE OF....oh...that's actually pretty cool.

Good for him.

Pretty sad that we have to praise someone for NOT being retarded jack-ass birther moran, but still, good for him.

But unlike some in his party who have been embarrassed by their own clunky and awkward responses to the birthers, Ryan has come up with an easy solution to deal with them.

He simply sends them a copy of the president's birth certificate.

I have no issue with this. Actually, I like his approach and I respect that his staff goes out of their way to disprove such ridiculousness instead of just ignoring it.

And St_Francis_P, no matter how many times I see that, I still giggle.

And to speculating that bin Laden was already dead when Obama had him "killed".

It's good politicking to answer every constituent's letter. Sending a copy of the document you know they believe is fake is just good trolling. :)

No, they're saying that the newest job numbers are completely made up because unemployment fell below 8%.

Not sure how the report factors retirees. I would guess they're counted in the same bucket as people going back to school or giving up looking. Can't find a solid explanation online.

However Gallup also has unemployment dipping under 8%. Are they in the tank for Obama, too?

U.S. Unadjusted Unemployment Rate at 7.9% in September

fusillade762: However Gallup also has unemployment dipping under 8%. Are they in the tank for Obama, too?

Yes.

The BLS and everyone else was honest and correct when the rate was above 8%, but when it dipped below that, they are obviously being manipulated by "Chicago-style" politics.

So, in one month's time, Obama somehow managed - by hook or by crook - to get everyone to agree to a nice number under 8% - and not one person involved leaked the story of the freakin' millenium.

Or - and this is my favorite - whether by chance or by conspiracy, the Democrats who were surveyed lied and said they found a job when they really hadn't, thus skewing the numbers. I can't remember what dipshiat said that, but I'm not making that up.

Unemployment numbers have been considerably modified over time. LBJ did the first ones, and I think even Bush changed them near the end of his first term. The commonly reported numbers are called the U3 unemployment number. Each of the changes reduced the unemployment rate by eventually counting out of the unemployment rate anyone who is in school, who has been out of work for more than two years, anyone who is considered a stay at home parent and the retired. None of those people are considered unemployed; to do so would put unemployment probably near 40%. Quite a large percent of those people are unemployed by choice. The U6 number is also commonly cited, which partially includes some of the groups listed above, I'm not absolutely certain how.

But basically the outrage was that unemployment dropped below 8%, therefore it must have been fraud. That's all there is to it. Ironically, the GOP has shot themselves in the foot here: if they had made unemployment benefits infinitely extendable - they normally run out at 26 weeks, and have been extended to 99 weeks during the recession, and the GOP has refused to extend them further - then unemployment would be much higher. They cite the U6 numbers because they claim the U3 numbers are artificially low. The U3 would be quite a bit higher because people wouldn't be forced out of it because they were no longer on unemployment.

No, the Seal Team unanimously decided to commit a mutiny and override Obama's decision to not kill bin Laden, even though it would have meant a court martial.

FTFA: Ryan's answer sets him apart from prominent supporters of the Romney campaign like Donald Trump, who routinely says the birth certificate is a forgery, and birther-curious lawmakers like Rep. Steve King and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who have raised questions about the president's birthplace but stopped short of saying they believed he was born elsewhere.

"Birther-curious"... BAAHAHAHA!! That's rich. :)

2012-10-06 08:12:35 PM
Paul Ryan has figured out a way of letting the birthers down gently.

Are you kidding? These people can find an insult hidden in a puppy wagging it's tail. Christ, I've had members of my extended family accuse me of hating Murika and wanting everyone in this entire country to sit around collecting welfare checks because I mentioned that Ryan's first budget had no numbers on it, which makes it not really a budget at all. That's all it takes for these people to go apeshiat, and that's against members of their own family.

To Paul Ryan's credit, he's one of a few Republicans that doesn't hate black people.

This could be really, uh, abused. I think I'll start by expressing my concern that Obama is a secret kitten-eating reptilian in league with the British Royal Family and the United Nations in a plan to enslave America so that Maoist, Muslim French-speaking aliens can take away our guns and replace them with free hippie bicycles.
