But all those couples seem so perfect for each other.

It's almost as if television lies to us.

It didn't help that he picked the wrong one. You could tell it wouldn't last before the show was even over.

Even one couple together still surprises the fark outta me.

I'm actually surprised by the high success rate.

You know, scientists deny that a perpetual-motion machine is possible, but I say to you that mankind has created a reality show that offers as its true prize the chance be the star of the next season of the same reality show. We are so close, people. All we have to do now is create a reality show in which every season after the first is an all-star edition drawing solely from itself and we will have made history.

Oh wow -- the remaining couple have been married for almost two years. That's like a golden anniversary in Hollywood years.

And in even later later news, no one cares.

I'm pretty sure Trista and Ryan have been married for almost ten years now. Don't ask me how I know that.

I was forced to watch a bit of that show. Ugh. That guy should feel lucky that he had anyone for any amount of time, aside from the group French kissing on the show.

I think you just described the Real World/Road Rules Challenge.

Such an awesome show. It's like the world's largest train wreck.

Falling in love when you are constantly experiencing emotional highs in new exotic locales never works out once you get back to your regular lives back in the states.

There should be a Constitutional Amendment to ban this show in order to protect the Sanctity of MarriageTM
WHAR OUTRAGE?

ABC's a broadcast network. You would literally have to not have television in your house in order to not have ABC.

This is why we need to protect traditional marriage. ;-)

We have an HD antenna in my apartment, and we don't get ABC. The station just doesn't come up via auto scan and gives us only "no signal" when trying to select the station directly. So it's possible to have TV and not have ABC.

Pretty obviously, and interesting that the Bachelorettes I think by and large have stayed with who they have chosen (maybe I am wrong, but, seems like that's been the way).

But, it makes sense.... the "Bachelors" had 30 women trying to be with them, so, if anything goes a little south they are like "Man, I had 29 other women who wanted me, see ya"..... vs. the guys who win with the "Bachelorette" had to fight off 29 other guys, so, they are like "wow, I'd better make this work".

Dude. 15 of the 16 failed. There's no 'by and large' there. I think the contestants know that going in by now. They're not there for love. They're there to be on the cover of InTouch for a couple months.

In unrelated news, there has never been a non-white Bachelor, Bachelorette, or winning contestant.

Wait let me guess: it was the one with the guy that cheats on everyone and the crazy biatch?

ON The Wings Of Love, indeed

It's hard to comprehend the level of stupid one would have to be to want to watch that shiat.

Maybe you missed my point...

there are two shows...

The Bachelor, where 1 guy gets to pick from 30 women.... that is the show where 15 of 16 have failed.

The Bachelorette, where 1 girl gets to pick from 30 guys .... I don't know what the success rate is on those, but, I believe it is much higher, for the reasons I pointed out.

Yeah, but they met on the BachelorETTE. Trista was a runner up on the first Bachelor, I believe, and became the first BachelorETTE and met her husband.

Oh, now you tell me. The traveling all over the world, the wining and dining, the expensive gifts and fantastic drugs, and I was just about to fly to Tahiti to see my new one. Not going to work out, hey? God, my life sucks.

They are bound to get one right now and then.

I am pretty shocked though that people who "fall in love" while seeing very little of each other and what little they do see are on fantastic dates they would never ever take in their real dating life can't make things work when put back into the real world.

That was The Bachelorette.

The Bachelor and Gal that are still married...She didn't even win his season. He picked someone else first.

It is a much higher percentagewise...2 of 8 still together. The most recent makes 3 currently, but based on the magazine covers at the store, they don't look like they are long for the future either.

All right damn it...I like spending time with my GF and she watches this stuff. (but I had to wiki to get most of the above information)

After that, they get to star in the next iteration of The Bachelor / The Bachelorette. Followed by "celebrity guest" spots on game shows, then a stint on Dr. Drew's rehab show, a short porn career, a spot on a VH1 reality about singing overweight ghosts, back to porn (but this time gay porn if a guy, and scat porn if a chick), another season of Dr. Drew, then finally ending up as a rotting corpse in a dumpster.
