Shaggy_C: People sometimes hit incorrect keys while typing, creating humorous spelling errors. This phenomenon is known as a "typo".

A subset of these people effortlessly proofread what they type as they type. They are known as "literate".

Ever since the days of Usenet there is the issue of "is he really that stupid" or "is he just trolling for a response".

I think parts of online communities, like the Republican party, have gone post modern where some participants are unaware of the distinction - i.e. some Republicans don't distinguish whether they really believe or not the derp they are regurgitating.

There has been a maxim about not confusing stupidly with malice. To which one can counter that often people are both stupid and malicious. A Post Modern community may not be able to distinguish between stupidity and maliciousness.

Facebook as actually pretty pointless and a privacy nightmare to boot.

Stopped using it months ago and don't miss it a bit.

platkat: It's a great marketing tool if you're a business. Using it as a person with no chance of profit seems a little insane.

So basically, your customers are all insane?

NeoCortex42: The rule of thumb should be that if you are worried about any one of your friends seeing a particular post or piece of information, don't post it. Also, never friend your boss. That should reduce Facebook complaints by about 95%.

Also, never friend anyone who is friends with your boss.

How about an article that lists the reasons why it's a bad idea to have 7 billion people on the planet, and some ideas of how to thin out the herd?

filter: How is it a privacy nightmare? I never post anything questionable, and have a locked down profile.

Some people think they can post something that only some of their friends will see, but not others. Then Facebook does a version update and screws with permissions.

Ok some of those are typo's and are funny, but understandable and really shouldn't be used to judge somebody's intellect. But then there is this.

s3-ec.buzzfed.com

and this

s3-ec.buzzfed.com

I really hope those two people never breed.

dexaline: The only bad thing about FB is my friends tagging me in photos at the bar the day before I call out from work.

Set your profile so you must approve any tags. It aint rocket surgery.

Step 1: Criticize others for the content they are publishing onto the internet.
Step 2: Do it by copy-pasting the content of others and organizing it into a list.
Step 3: Man, this is a stupid "article".
