Friday:
Augsburg 3-1 Bremen:
Augsburg played their best match of the season by far to pick up their first win in six matches. It's still going to be a struggle for them to stay in the top level this season, though.

Saturday:
Hoffenheim at Bayern: Hoffenhein has recovered from a horrendous start and come into Munich to face a Bayern team missinf Arjen Robben. Franck Ribéry is also a question mark.

Wolfsburg at Schalke 04: Schalke returns to league action after the Champions Leage draw against Montpelier. They've been somewhat inconsistent, yet remain even with Dortmund for third place. Wolfsburg is in trouble, pulling only five points in their first six matches.

FC Nürnberg at SC Freiburg: Two mid-bottom-table teams meet up. Nürnberg is in freefall right now, having lost their last three in a row. It could be four since Freiburg has had a lot of success against FCN.

Fortuna Düsseldorf at Mainz 05:
Düsseldorf has performed well on their return to the top flight after a 15-year absence, having yet to lose a match (teo wins, four draws). Mainz is looking to build on last week's win against Wolfsburg.

Hamburg SV at Greuther Fürth: These two cluubs face each other for the first time since 1963. Newcomers Fürth are at risk of being one-and-done, at the bottom of the table with only four points. Hamburg has picked things up aver the upset win against Dortmund.

Sunday:

Eintracht Frankfurt at Borussia Mönchengladbach: Frankfurt has been the surprise of the league to this point, the only blemish on their record being the draw against Dortmund. Gladback is looking to recover from their 5-o humiliation by that same Dortmund team, as well as the 4-2 home loss against Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

Bayer Leverkusen at VfB Stuttgart: The hosts are off to a poor start, sitting in the relegation zone with Wolfrsburg and Fürth. They look to have a hard time of it against Leverkusen, who is sitting in a five-team back between third and seventh place, with all of the teams separated by only one point.

Borussia Dortmund at Hannover 96: Dortmund seem to have found their footing after crushing Mönchengladbach and completely dominating their CL match at English titleholders Manchester City, being forced to settle for a draw after a controversial last-minute penalty kick.

I'm confused. I thought this thread was about the battle of the bulge. Was I wrong?

Looks like Hamburg did turn the corner after a horrible start. Usually I say one good man can't do anything if the team is too shiatty but in this case I think bringing back van der Vaart was the right move.

All first 7 games won. That is a German bundesliga record. Congratulations, Bayern Muenchen!

Well, it's the 4th time a team has started with 7 wins (this year Bayern has the best goal difference of them, 21-2, so it's in fact a record). Let's see how this worked out:

1995/96: Bayern (finished 2nd) - Meister: Dortmund
2001/02: Kaiserslautern (finished 7th) - Meister: Dortmund
2010/11: Mainz (finished 5th) - Meister: Dortmund

I love those regular Bundesliga threads. Keep on greening them, guys. My current gameday listlessness is only caused by Nürnberg's abysmal performance. Glad to have a break next week with World Cup qualifiers.

This is a trend that needs to be broken.

Hannover tying Dortmund in the 86th minute certainly helped!

Eintract Frankfurt lost their first(?) match of the season as well, those beasts were getting a bit uncontrollable!

Frankfurt has been on fire this season. Very underrated team.

Underrated and ignored it seems. I was actually cheering against them for the first time this season. Need to knock them back a bit :P
