A barn bequeathed to an Oregon cat

*Sigh...*

I suppose if corporations can be people, why the hell not.

So, what, you'd rather the man's legal last will and testament be ignored because the recipient is a cat?

I'm no lawyer, but in general, people who want to leave things to their pets actually leave things to a trust tasked with providing for the pet.

How about a tree that owns itself?

I read that is a "bar" owned by a cat and was wondering where the Hero tag was.

A cat makes a hell of a lot nicer person than does a corporation.

If a corporation is a person, does that mean my cats can be corporations?

Drop the vermin, kids...we got BUSINESS to perform!

Feel sorry for the cat actually, not being allowed outside anymore and getting stepped on.

Good on yer Beth Timmons for buying the barn! Extra points for having it moved to your own place!!
Sounds to me as if late owner of property John Bass leaving $70K for KittyKat's care was essentially a trust, even if/tho not called that.
Fang Q subby & mods & mayhap admins too for extra Caturday thread, tho likely won't be nearly as frequented as main one.

I very nearly posted something which wasn't at all politically oriented, but did reference a politician. Then I came to my senses. Since it sounded like my comment might actually enrich the internet in any way I deleted it, and here is the replacement joke: "Knock knock." "Who's there?" "Lettuce." "That's impossible."

It's nice to see people doing things that aren't solely motivated by profit.

Pretty much.

Estate planning for pets is becoming much more common. Which is a good thing as my tabby keeps telling me.

One of the finest cats I've ever lived with was born a barn cat.

You need to be kicked in the groin for that pic.

"Reid laughed when he told the story about the time a bartender at Tangent's Dixie Creek Saloon refused to serve Bass -- a man who liked his drink -- another round. Bass solved the problem by buying the place."

That makes up for the cat part! :)

May not be the easiest way to get a stuck cat
out of a tree

But it sure is the funest way

Tangent is a great name for a town.
Q: Where are you going?
A: Tangent.
Q: how do you get there?
A: Take Tangent Road.
Q: does that run at a diagonal?
