Well they'll get an immediate chance to win a home game, something they failed to do in three tries in the 1996 series. But it was all Jeffrey Maier's fault. It definitely wasn't Mike Mussina falling apart in the 8th inning of Game 3. It certainly wasn't Rocky Coppinger somehow being worse than Kenny Rogers in Game 4. And by no means was it Scott Erickson giving up six runs (aided by a Roberto Alomar error) in the 3rd inning of Game 5.

Nope, Jeffrey Maier.

qorkfiend: INeedAName: I've not yet jumped on the O's bandwagon, and as they seem to be doing pretty well, I will continue to avoid it. O's lose in 3 games to the Yankees!

//Never got past Maier...

All the family I have down there assures me it's spelled "Baltimoron".

The Bestest: lets go ahead and collect the facts for the people asking:

-O's manager Buck Showalter has twice had a team win a World Series the year immediately following his firing. The first were the 19976 Yankees, famous for the 19976 ALCS where the Jeffrey Maier incident occurred against the O's

Cleveland wants a word about that ALCS and Miami Florida for that WS

Peaceboy: So I haven't seen the Orioles pretty much at all this year, how'd they size up against the Yankees? They have a shot?

They split the season series 9-9. Strangely, each team went 6-3 in the others home stadium.

Baltimore absolutely has a shot, but they need a few bats to heat up in a hurry. And they need a couple starters to pitch the games of their lives.
