Habitual Cynic: Morgellons: Sriracha awesome sauce has quite a bit of garlic and other flavours in it that don't mix well with ice cream.

Tabasco, on the other hand, is much more subtle flavor-wise. Capsaicin is actually a stereoisomer of vanillin, so it actually complements the flavor of vanilla ice cream quite well. I worked in a dining court in college, and one of our custom ice cream flavours was Tabasco. We'd add 1/2 cup Tabasco brand hot pepper sauce to a 3 gallon bag of vanilla soft-serve mix. It was pretty darn tasty. (That works out to 2 tsp. (10 ml) for a one-quart batch, if anyone was to mix some up at home)

Tabasco is piss. Habaneros rule. Possibly the best hot sauce in the world is Marie Sharpe's Habanero Fiery. Made in Belize, and has both flavor and heat. Tabasco has neither heat nor flavor. Experiment and grow.

No, Tabasco isn't very hot. But it does have a unique flavor that is sometimes very appropriate, depending on the dish. I wouldn't dream of making jambalaya without it, wouldn't taste right.

Siracha is pretty good stuff too, nice flavor and slightly spicier than ketchup.

As for habanero, I've not had that particular sauce, but I'm a big habanero fan. Try the Big S Farms Tennessee Mountain Green sometime, best green habanero sauce I've had. I'll try to find your Marie Sharp suggestion soon.

I can one up this.

Buy Macadamia nut cookies from the store bakery. Buy pure ice cream(the more expensive kind without a ton of additives) in a mild flavor(such as vanilla or strawberry) Buy frozen red berry mix, and get some Bailey's irish.

Combine ice cream, berries and Baileys(1 teaspoon max)

Spread on the macadamia nut cookies. It's awesome!

Someone on Top Chef tried this once. None of the judges liked it, I'll agree with their palettes.
