Sriracha is just not that hot. That's party why it's good - you can taste the sauce. Some of the other sauces are so hot it's just capsacin and you burn out the tast receptors.

This sounds incredible. If one thing is good and another thing is good the obvious thing to do is add them together to make them double good. Increase the size by two as well. There is no good reason to enjoy ice cream as ice cream and dishes that favor sriracha separately. In fact blend all your food together, bread it, deep fry it and enjoy. It'll have to be good!

1) I like spicy things as much as the next guy, but as an adult, I know that there are limits to how much should be used so that it doesn't overwhelm other flavors.

2) I also know that making food is like making music. You have to use flavors (and sounds) that compliment each other.

csb, Sriracha edition...Years ago a couple of friends were really drunk and we were eating chili. Like a bunch of drunken idiots, we decided to see who could handle the most Sriracha on our chili. Several minutes into the contest, my mouth felt like it was swollen on the inside and someone was poking pins into my lips. We were sweating so much, it looked like we had all taken a shower. After the contest was over with no winner declared, my stomach started to rumble. The projectile vomiting that spewed from my mouth and nose was a sight to behold. It's a good thing we were outside because vomit went everywhere. There was so much Sriracha in my vomit, my friend's dog wouldn't even take a sample lick. It was extremely painful but I'm sure it would have been much worse had I not been drunk. Of course, had I not been drunk, I never would have participated in such a ridiculous contest in the first place. 

I still like Sriracha though, but in manageable quantities.

Chile heat cut with the richness (and literal chill) of ice cream should work really well. I'd probably wolf down the stuff.

Tabasco, on the other hand, is much more subtle flavor-wise. Capsaicin is actually a stereoisomer of vanillin, so it actually complements the flavor of vanilla ice cream quite well. I worked in a dining court in college, and one of our custom ice cream flavours was Tabasco. We'd add 1/2 cup Tabasco brand hot pepper sauce to a 3 gallon bag of vanilla soft-serve mix. It was pretty darn tasty. (That works out to 2 tsp. (10 ml) for a one-quart batch, if anyone was to mix some up at home)

Some of the heat comes out when you cook it, and they probably cut it with something else. I like stuff that has flavor, not just heat.
I can tell you though, habanero poppers will never catch on.

I've been there sir, and I agree. Jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon (350 for twenty minutes for those of you keeping track) are excellent. I tried it with habaneros and while the heat didn't kill me the flavor was, well meh...

Tabasco is piss. Habaneros rule. Possibly the best hot sauce in the world is Marie Sharpe's Habanero Fiery. Made in Belize, and has both flavor and heat. Tabasco has neither heat nor flavor. Experiment and grow.

I've definitely had ice cream with peppers and enjoyed it. the thing is, we're taught ice cream is supposed to be some sweet dessert dish, but it can be more versatile. I've had avocado ice cream that might be my favorite ice cream ever, but it really wanted satisfy you if you were looking for a sweet dessert.

I love sriracha for crap foods and weird experiments, but when you're trying to make something nice, I think it's better to use a fresh pepper.

If you read the ingredient list on sriracha, it turns out that it's pretty much ketchup made with red jalapenos instead of tomatoes.

I put Sriracha on everything from Asian to Mexican food but I just don't see it working well as an ice cream sandwich ingredient. Id try it if someone else made it but Im not going to the time and expense to do it myself only to find out I hated it.

You said "habanero" and "flavor" in the same sentence. I'm not buying it. I do agree though Tabasco isn't my favourite hot sauce, the point with that recipe was not to make hot sauce flavour ice cream, but to make vanilla ice cream with a little "tingle". To that end, it worked.
