Heh. NOW Republican trolls are claiming low paying jobs don't count?

2012-10-05 01:39:20 PM

Spade: I have a question:

So we added 114,000 jobs.
But the number of unemployed people dropped by 456,000.

So, what happened to the other 342,000 people that aren't unemployed but apparently didn't get jobs?

They went to Mexico looking for work.

Rightfully so as they are the ones working and paying the majority of taxes. Try working instead of whining.

The sad part his how much lower this number would be if it wasn't for all the the public sector cuts under Obama just to protect the tax cuts.

If you adjust the unemployment prediction to were unemployment actually was when the stimulus spending started, it looks like this:

In fact, how do you know what the 'real' numbers are? You must have the real numbers to know that the reported numbers are false, right?

More Republican tears please.

Doesn't surprise me. Within the course of two weeks, 2 of the GOP's central talking points went up in smoke.

1. Obama is now a net job creator.
2. Unemployment has fallen below the symbolic 8%.

If this trend continues into the October numbers released a few days before the elections, Mitt's talking points are worthless.

I got some anecdotal evidence that things are picking up.

For a few years now, I vacationed with my family on the islands off the coast of Ft. Myers, FL (considered to have been one of the hardest hit areas when the real estate bubble popped). For quite a few years now, there were tons of homes with "For Sale" signs on these islands. I just went back there last week and not only has traffic picked up on the islands, but I saw the fewest "For Sale" signs that I have seen in quite a long time.

But according to the GOP, I guess I should thanks Rick Scott for being able to pull this off in spite of Obama huh?

hdhale: Except that a number of prominent business types and economist are calling the drop into question, including Jack Welsh:

Actually, it should come as no surprise that Mr. Welch would think bureaucrats would willingly change numbers. That evidently used to happen routinely at G.E. As I wrote in a 2009 column quoting James Martin, a Jesuit priest who found his calling after graduating from the Wharton School and working at G.E. in the early 1980s:

"The primary task of my first job was to issue very long, monthly statistical reports," he wrote in his book, "In Good Company: The Fast Track From the Corporate World to Poverty, Chastity and Obedience." "The first month," he recalled, "I informed one executive that our results were coming in low" because of losses in overseas operations.

"So what?" replied the executive. "Just reverse a few journal entries." Corporate headquarters, he explained, would come down hard on them if they missed the numbers.

Another boss told him he was "taking those accounting courses way too seriously." Link

swangoatman: FROM California TV http://www.ktla.com
the ONLY numbers that rally count in this election cycle::
Gas prices shot up 19.2 cents overnight Thursday, and the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in L.A. County was $4.58 on Friday, the highest figure since 2008.
In Orange County, the average is up 20 cents to $4.53,while in the Inland Empire, it's up to $4.48. In Ventura County, the average price per gallon is $4.54.
The price increases could continue for weeks and the average might even break the $5 mark, according to experts.

You know that has more to do with supply issues (like refineries spontaneously catching on fire and exploding), rather than any policy from Obama right?

That's because there is no point even trying to sell the homes now. They are probably filled with transient diseased hobos and roving rape gangs just waiting for Obama to scoop up all the guns before they begin their home invasions of the remaining patriots.

Just curious... when did administration on the BLS begin? I mean, is it just the past few years with Obama's "Chicago style politics"... or have they always been manipulated by the administration? I mean, how deep does the rabbit hole go? Is it just during Dem administrations that those numbers are faked, or all administrations?

ADP puts out an employment report each month too and they show over 800,000 net new jobs over the last 5 months, 162K last month. Is that manipulated too?
