114k jobs, not enough to keep up with population growth, 0.3% drop in unemployment all of a sudden?

Oh ya, majority of the new jobs are government jobs, go figure.

Wetting pants? Nah, seeing progress. I think that is something everyone in America should be optimistic about. Took a long time to turn that Titanic of an economy crash around, but I think it's happening. Sorry you don't like it because your team is not in charge.

RelativeEase: Unemployment is up from 6.8% when Obama was elected to 7.8% today. With a high of 10% during Obama's tenure.

haha, even more absurd, now people want to pin the months of Novemeber, December and January on Obama when he wasn't even president???

conservatives are getting desperate again.

RelativeEase: JusticeandIndependence: RelativeEase: So Obama took over during the worst recession since the great depression and managed to maintain unemployment at the same level after 4 years?

Praise Jesus! Obama is good!

This would be like Alabama fans celebrating that 4 years after Nick Saban took over for Mike Shula he had finally gotten the Crimson Tide back to 6-7, where Mike Shula had them. lulz, something tells me he wouldn't have kept his job.

Because those are the same. An entire economy from one of the most powerful nations on earth vs. a college football team. Totally equal.

Your right Obama took over one of the most powerful nations on earth during one of its worst economic periods. After four years of Obama progress, the unemployment rate is exactly where it was when he took office. Success!

So how exactly has Obama fixed what GWB had farked up so badly if unemployment is exactly the same as when he took office?

No, you're right. He didn't do anything. Trend data means nothing (trending way down when Obama took office, stabilizing and trending up for several years). It's almost like you can evaluate absolutely everything with just two data points - what happens in between shouldn't figure in at all. Thanks for clearing that up.

Must suck to be an American that's upset when the country receives good news. Where you depressed when OBL was killed too?

Wall of crap

I don't cheer for crappy number just because they are a fraction less crappy than last months numbers. I also don't cheer for crappy numbers because they are less crappy than the last failure that was in office.

But hey your guy is in office now so cheer that unemployment is down a fraction of a percent and ignore the staggering debt and deficit growth, household income falling, and energy prices skyrocketing "necessarily". It's clearly a great day for the country

In Canada we never blame low or high gas prices on the Government. We are less stupid that way.

In the United States some of know that when you intentionally drive up the cost of one or more forms of energy it effects the others. But keep telling yourself that.

So Obama is intentionally driving up the price of gas? Let me guess, by delaying the Keystone Pipeline? Please tell me that is not what you are seriously going to argue?

No, he's intentionally driving up the price of electricity. When one goes up they all are effected.

OMG. I checked the Internets. It is worse that I thought. Fartbongo s driving up electricity costs throughout the entire world.

Actually I quoted Obama himself. But hey if you got nothing else you can just keep denying that he said it.

What quote? I don't see a quote. Do you mean your link to the an energy lobby website?

On The Issues is not an energy lobby website and there is a direct quote.

There seem to be a few quotes there. Why don't you just post the quote if you think it is somehow significant?

If I was the White House I would just trot out the unadjusted payroll numbers since June. There are good reasons why we adjust these numbers and the added jobs associated with kids working during the summer would be much higher than the numbers reported over the last several months. The sad thing is that Jack Welch actually understands this. He just hopes you are too stupid to get it.

2012-10-05 11:14:20 AM

Thunderpipes: Even if the number was true, which it is not (it will be revised), fact that libs are wetting their pants over 7.8% unemployment, and huge drop in household income, shows how dumb people really are.

"In September, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm
payrolls rose by 7 cents to $23.58. Over the past 12 months, average hourly
earnings have risen by 1.8 percent. In September, average hourly earnings of
private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees increased by 5 cents
to $19.81."

Certainly not anything to crow over, but it is real, current data rather than the Fox News report about household incomes dropping since Obama took office (presumably what you were referring to) which ignores the trainwreck that was going on when he took office.

This story shows that the biggest drop occurred in 2010 (a direct result of the financial collapse) and was basically holding steady in 2011. I don't have any data for 2012 overall, but the paragraph above from the BLS jobs report seems to fly in the face of the 'huge drop in household incomes' talking point you probably were referring to.

Giltric: hugram: Giltric: I'm not sure using GDP or the DOW or weekly paychecks increasing is indicative of how the bottom 99% is doing.

95% of all income gains have gone to the top 1% according to a liberal in a different thread. Also 95% of the DOW is owned by the top 10% of the wealth in the US.

So if the top 1% and top 10% is making money the GDP will reflect that.....but it's not a good way to show how the bottom 90-99% is doing.

/but it's a great metric to fap too....like finding an old picture of your mom to fap to without realizing it is a picture of your mom when she was 16.

So you are saying that trickle down economics does not work?

No I'm questioning some of the charts you use and what they mean.

It seems in the Obama recovery...the rich are getting richer....the 99% are still dumpster diving for half eaten egg salad pannini sandwiches.

how does 300k+ new jobless claims a week add up to a lower unemployment rate when you create only 100k jobs in a month.

We NETTED 100K jobs in the month.

Over 800K jobs were CREATED. It's just that about 700K jobs were lost.

I love this time of election year. It's when you got a guy from the left, and a guy from the right. And any time either of them manage to tie their own shoe without face planting it is heralded as an act of genius and proof positive that we've picked the right guy. And they think the louder and longer they talk about what a stupendous event it was that people will start believing this reality they are trying to insert. Indeed they feel it is their doody to tell everyone that their guy just ripped your guy a new arse hole, forced him to poop in a bag, set it on their front porch on fire, and even after all that they still stomped it out. Each election I know it is coming, so you would think the joke gets old. It doesn't.

the ONLY numbers that rally count in this election cycle::
Gas prices shot up 19.2 cents overnight Thursday, and the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in L.A. County was $4.58 on Friday, the highest figure since 2008.
In Orange County, the average is up 20 cents to $4.53,while in the Inland Empire, it's up to $4.48. In Ventura County, the average price per gallon is $4.54.
The price increases could continue for weeks and the average might even break the $5 mark, according to experts.
