Two houses within two blocks of me are in foreclosure, people are just walking away from them. The economy seems to be getting worse.

It might have to do with the fact that the pictured house is BUTT UGLY AND FALLING APART.

BUT BUT TWO HOUSES! That is a better indicator of the ENTIRE ECONOMY than the whole rest of the country!

It's always "significantly higher." 1.74 times higher to be exact.

hdhale: I think that once enough people are convinced that Christmas season employment is the only work they are likely to get any time soon, and the only way their kids are going to see presents, suddenly taking a massive paycut to hop back into the workforce and unload boxes of Chinese goods at Walmart sounds pretty damn good.

For all you cheering right, will you be cursing Obama come January when the unemployment rate rises well above 8% again? Nah, you'll go back to mumbling about Bush again I'm sure, win or lose in November.

So, you are trying to say that the estimates are not appropriately seasonally adjusted?

I would suggest that anyone jumping on this talking point needs to actually read the actual description of the actual methodology to actually come close to actually understanding how these estimates are actually determined.

The false premise is that Obama is doing anything to improve our economy.

He is, in fact, like a nuclear weapon that has detonated within it.

It will take a generation to undo what he has done in just three years

Damn him.

hugram: Giltric: I'm not sure using GDP or the DOW or weekly paychecks increasing is indicative of how the bottom 99% is doing.

95% of all income gains have gone to the top 1% according to a liberal in a different thread. Also 95% of the DOW is owned by the top 10% of the wealth in the US.

So if the top 1% and top 10% is making money the GDP will reflect that.....but it's not a good way to show how the bottom 90-99% is doing.

/but it's a great metric to fap too....like finding an old picture of your mom to fap to without realizing it is a picture of your mom when she was 16.

So you are saying that trickle down economics does not work?

No I'm questioning some of the charts you use and what they mean.

It seems in the Obama recovery...the rich are getting richer....the 99% are still dumpster diving for half eaten egg salad pannini sandwiches.

how does 300k+ new jobless claims a week add up to a lower unemployment rate when you create only 100k jobs in a month.

hugram: I wish Obama would have stop Romney's BS talking point about unemployment being over 8% for 40 straight months (or whatever the month amount was) and say, "while that might be true, it is a misleading statement. Unemployment has been trending down for the last 20 months or so. We had 10% at one point."

If he mentioned something along those lines, then most people would have seen that as a good thing.

If the media frenzy after the debate showed us anything, substantive points/arguments are meaningless. Facts are meaningless. Obama apparently needs to be more animated, stare at Romney intently and run his mouth like an idiot while appearing to be angry.

Pumpernickel bread: Not enough jobs are being produced to put a dent in the unemployment numbers, so this is actually an indicator of something worse - in the past month, thousands of Americans have given up hope of finding a job and just stopped trying.

Then why is U6 dropping?
