Two houses within two blocks of me are in foreclosure, people are just walking away from them. The economy seems to be getting worse.

Foreclosure rates are down overall in the US from last year (although some local markets may buck the national trend). Average home prices are trending up, albeit slowly, due to fewer foreclosed homes being sold. You are mistaken.

I sold my house for a 50K profit in September and bought a brand new one. Builder told me the bottom was reached earlier this year and his business is now booming again.

Anecdotal evidence how does it work?

I think the number of slashies varies inversely (that should be indirectly I believe but what the hell) with the unemployment figures.

/this slashie is for Big Bird--that evil Socialist muppet that must be destroyed if we are to save America
/this slashie is for the middle class who won't be taxed until they will be taxed

We have reached the point where anytime that the global economy is doing ok, gas prices are going to be high. Sucks, but that's how it is. Deal with it.

/Or you could vote for someone who just lies through his teeth and says he will magically lower prices. I hear Newt Gingrich is available.
//Or you could vote for someone who will wreck the world economy and bring gas prices down with it. I hear Mitt Romney is available.

sweetmelissa31: mrshowrules: James!: Romney recovery?

Well done. The transition from the Bush Recovery to the Romney Recovery over the summer was surprising gradual.

Romney's impressive performance at the debate soothed the fears of The Invisible Hand, causing tens of thousands of jobs to be created in the span of two days.

The numbers are not in yet, but I bet Romney got no bounce, hell it might hurt him. He "won" the debate by acting like a corporate raider.

Republicans liek that.

nobody who was thinking of supporting him is going to pay attention to the factt hat he only "won" because he changed positions on many things he has been campaigning on.

Hey, whatever gets that number below 8%. Chicago math.

2012-10-05 10:06:51 AM
Yes, there is a deeply embedded sleeper cell of Libs secretly manipulating employment numbers, and even though they could have brought this number down and pretty much removed Romney's main campaign argument and shored up the President's re-election months ago, they decided to wait until 30 days before the election to do it.

Think trolls. For once, just think one of these ridiculous thoughts through.

NO NUMBERS ARE TRUE IF THEY SUPPORT THE POSITION OF SOMEONE I DON'T LIKE!

Have any of you naysayers thought about what you're implying with your paranoid rants that Obama's fixing the numbers to look good? You're basically saying that any numbers you don't agree with might be compromised as part of a conspiracy.

GAT_00: So unemployment is now lower than when he took office. There go a swarm of GOP talking points.

Yeah if that unemployment number meant anything you'd have a point. The reason the number keeps inching down is because people keep dropping out of the work force because they can't find work. As Romney points out, the real number would be closer to 11% if that wasn't the case.

I'm not sure using GDP or the DOW or weekly paychecks increasing is indicative of how the bottom 99% is doing.

95% of all income gains have gone to the top 1% according to a liberal in a different thread. Also 95% of the DOW is owned by the top 10% of the wealth in the US.

So if the top 1% and top 10% is making money the GDP will reflect that.....but it's not a good way to show how the bottom 90-99% is doing.

/but it's a great metric to fap too....like finding an old picture of your mom to fap to without realizing it is a picture of your mom when she was 16.

ok, now i know you're trolling.

but just in case you're that dense:

gas prices have doubled because demand has recovered along with the economy.

other things that cause high gas prices:

• speculation
• refinery capacity problems
• the BP oil spill
• unrest in the middle east (ahmadinedjad and bibi's saber rattling)

Republicans have nothing.

The only somewhat-legitimate complaint they have is with regards to the pace of the recovery, but even then most Americans can easily see how that pace was crippled by Republican obstruction and pettiness.

If they weren't such petulant, farking, infants, Republicans in both houses could have easily been seen as the heroes of this recovery, but they screwed that pooch comically, and now Obama is going to get most of the credit. You have to love that.

So the $4000 per household income lost, and the debt and deficit are all okay to you because unemployment is down?

It's great that unemployment is down, if it's truly down. But overall the economy is still in a shamble.

I'm not going to praise anyone until someone starts getting it all under control. The problem is that everyone wants it fixed but no one wants the fix to effect them. And Obama is trying to keep everyone happy. So did Bush. So will Romney(if he wins).

I guess my point is we are in a tailspin and I don't know that any politician will have the guts to do what's necessary to pull us out of it. The gravy train would stop for a lot of people. That includes the entire spectrum of spending from freeloaders to defense contractors.

Delay: publikenemy: I'm sure this has been said already, but that 7.8% does not take into account the millions of people who have run out of benefits, taken small part time jobs, or just plain stopped looking. Do you realize how many people run out of unemployment benefits every day? But I'm sure these facts are not worth noting to Obama sycophants

That's not how these numbers are collected. But then you knew that.

That's the point. Actual unemployed is significantly higher, so no point crowing over a couple of insignificant percentage points. Monthly job growth is not robust enough to grow the economy.
