Yeah...what does it matter if the game is under protest. It isn't going to be re-played.

2012-10-05 08:02:01 PM

Shrugging Atlas: I love it...MLB Gamecast just has "Delay" listed for the game.

Delay...because the Atlanta fans when apeshiat at a bullshiat call made despite there being like 15 umpires on the field.

I wonder how the Braves will resond to this in the next game of the se......fark.

They were blowing the umps earlier in the game too.

Cards pitcher was rattled, that play would have knockedmhim out.

jbc: Stay classless, Braves fans.

Ordinarily Brave fans are quiet and boring. I am proud of them tonight. They have turned into Red Sox fans.

What is going on now? Stupid women chatting and cant hear. Are they reversing or just cleaning?

Gunny Highway: be

According to the Official Rules of Baseball: Rule 2.00 (Infield Fly) Comment: On the infield fly rule the umpire is to rule whether the ball could ordinarily have been handled by an infielder-not by some arbitrary limitation such as the grass, or the base lines. The umpire must rule also that a ball is an infield fly, even if handled by an outfielder, if, in the umpire's judgment, the ball could have been as easily handled by an infielder. The infield fly is in no sense to be considered an appeal play. The umpire's judgment must govern, and the decision should be made immediately."

The All-Powerful Atheismo: mjohnson71: If the Braves win, the rest of the games at Turner field should be dry.

If the Braves win or lose, Turner field should be bulldozed into the ground

With the umpires still inside though, right?

Dafatone: Didn't the 3rd base umpire call it sooner?

To answer my question, no he did not.

2012-10-05 08:02:30 PM

Doogled: DaJesus: That was a cock sucking call!

Did you just call the ump a cock sucker? You're out of here!

No! I said it was a cock sucking call!

Fine... You're a cocksucker...

Gunny Highway: I like this more than the old way. End of the season is more exciting and these games have the potential to be classics.

Well you got that part right anyway. A classic fark up.

I'll admit, I am biased because I hate the braves with every fiber of my being.

But when does this become a forfeit.

2012-10-05 08:03:59 PM
Maybe we should leave the infield fly calls to the infield umps from now on.

2012-10-05 08:04:06 PM

Dafatone: Bad call.

But Kozma catches that if the ump doesn't yell infield fly, anyway.

Way to show some class in Chipper's last game, chucklefarks.

Kozma started pulling away from the ball before the ump even moved his arm.

When Bud Selig grows some balls

Professional sports officials make far too many ridiculously terrible calls to not make everything eligible for review and overturn.

I can accept that compromise.

Usually the country complains about empty stands at Turner Field in the playoffs. Touché, Atlanta.

Well it was at one point....for about two seconds after it left the bat.

Putting the game under protest does jack crap

2012-10-05 08:05:14 PM
This is the longest mid-game delay I can remember since Ripken broke the Iron Horse record.

2012-10-05 08:05:17 PM
And we're under a trash delay in Atlanta...

True. It's possible the ump yelled before pointing up. But whatever, the call still sucks. Certainly not arguing there.

Kenny B: I thought if they dont catch the ball everyone keeps running WTF! Please explain.

They called the Infield Fly Rule

2012-10-05 08:05:39 PM
How can it be a forfeit? Even if it hadn't been called wrong, there is no guarantee the Braves would have scored anything.

The NFL has set the stage for the great Fan vs Ref wars of 2012-13.

Just wait for the NBA to start up.

2012-10-05 08:06:19 PM
No way will the protest be upheld. It would have to be done in time to replay the end of the game tomorrow, or the NLDS schedule gets totally F'd up.

Forfeit in favor of STL because of the delay.

Anyone else find it a bit amusing that they showed a ton of Bud Light bottles on the field with the overlay of the scoreboard Presented by Budweiser?

2012-10-05 08:06:48 PM
Little did we know Selig added an Outfield Fly Rule to this play in game to make things really exciting.

Wait until the ninth inning when lions emerge from concealed pits in the outfield.....

I think the forfeit talk is about the Braves forfeiting eh? The garbage on the field is from their fans.

over/under on fights going on in the stands right now?

I think it will eventually get to Bud Selig, yes

MLB will never accept that protest and replay the game. Never in a million years.

The Braves will lose and there will be a nothing change in the rule book during the winter owner's meeting.

2012-10-05 08:07:40 PM
Is the ump talking to Selig now?

It'd have the same odds as a protest by the Cards that they had to pull a pitcher because of a 15 minute fan-created delay.

This is insane.

Yes, the advertisers are very upset with these developments.

This isn't really a rule change issue. The rule is fine. It was just terribly applied.
