Mercutio74: bulldg4life: I think they should be forced to use the same accounts for years. The really good trolls have the same accounts. There are some that have been around for 7/8/9 years. Taking a month old account in to a thread and repeatedly shiatting out whatever pops in to your head isn't funny.

That's true. Trolling used to MEAN something. The personas were so well fleshed out. It was almost like going to some historical site in Philadelphia and talking with an actor portraying Ben Franklin. Now it's like going to LA and having some sweaty guy dressed as Spiderman grope your kids.

This is beautiful.

Where are the jobs? Well, the unemployment rate (using the same metric the GOP uses when they are in office - U3) is lower than when Obama took office. And this despite the massive reduction in government employees during the period.

I must have missed the Fark thread where people were actually defending Obama's performance, subby.

Dr Dreidel: Romney: "Nu-uh. I'm not asking to cut $5T,

Interestingly, he was sneaky in the way he phrased things. Every time he spoke about taxes, he always used a qualifier. "I'm not planning on any tax increases that would will affect this specific class". And the guy said it every. farking. time. He used weasel words all over the place and should've been called on it.

EighthDay: Jaws_Victim: Al Gore's statement is so embarrassing. Obama did a terrible job, let's hope he does better.

This.

/voting Obama

He actually has to engage Romney. He has to get down and dirty and call him out to his bullshiat, to his face. I think the pundits incorrectly advised him to "keep his cool" but the truth is that Obama has the sangfroid of a dentist (except maybe the one who shall not be named) and a bulk of his supporters would actually be relieved to watch him show some teeth. Yes, Mittens has been shooting himself in the foot but it's a whole new ballgame now. He's facing "Mitt the Moderate". The smarmy SOB has finally managed to turn his greatest political liability - shifting positions with the wind - into an asset, and the Obama campaign has to react accordingly. There was no course correction at the debate. The overly calm approach was noticeably not working and Obama did not make an effort to correct it.

Dr Dreidel:

Romney: "Nu-uh. I'm not asking to cut $5T, and besides, there are WAY more than enough deductions that no one's going to see any tax increases. Also, we'll use growth to pay down the deficit."

WHO TO BELIEVE

Yeah, that really struck me as odd, the whole if I say I won't increase the deficit, I WON'T INCREASE THE DEFICIT! Math be damned!

Of course, he hasn't presented any facts or numbers to prove he can actually fulfill his promise. Because he can't.

Note for note the same as the crap W spun against Al Gore. He had plans to spend Clinton's surplus 3 times over. And the morons ate it up, all the while guffawing about Al Gore and "fuzzy math".

Actually, if you know that they know that you know what they, know, its double secret reverse psychology.

Any time they use an alt, the previous account should be locked and deleted. That would stop most from hiding behind another account as they live for that e penis of people remembering that certain account for years.

Bottom line, Obama sucked on Wednesday and he he deserves the drubbing Stewart is giving him.

The longer story...
Romney has discovered a successful strategy - be assertive and score points by making up shiat on the spot. There's no reason to think he will change this strategy in the next two debates since it worked so well on Wednesday. Debating Mitt will be like ailing jello to the wall.

Over the next week the Obama campaign needs to develop the narrative that Mitt is a used car salesman - he'll say anything, tell any lie to get your vote. They'll be plenty of factual evidence to back this up. Mitt and his campaign will help by walking back some of his most egregious policy flip-flops. Mitt himself was out today saying that he didn't really mean it when he said that 47% of the country were lazy asses looking for a handout.

In the next debate, Obama is going to have to hit hard on the "Mendacious Mitt" characterization, as well as articulate his own policy positions better.

nomike1: Wow

Its all over Facebook, all over Fark, all my Dem friends in full Obama defense mode

How did you all get there? Losing mode?

You're right I've seen all of these claims by my rabid Obama fan friends on Facebook. The latest and greatest is the Romney Notecard Conspiracy™, where a few blurry frames of show Mitt pull something out of his pocket--on the audience side of the podium, mind you--as he's walking up to the podium. He's digging in there in full view of everyone. So OBVIOUSLY these are his vital notes by which he overpowered Obama using Mormon slight of hand tricks! (WHY DO YOU THINK THEY CALL IT MAGIC UNDERWEAR!) CHEATER!

Or, its the handkerchief he's seen using repeatedly throughout the night.

Either one.

Mitt Romneys Tax Return: Bottom line, Obama sucked on Wednesday and he he deserves the drubbing Stewart is giving him.

That.

What's funny is that Romney wasn't great. He was pushy, and obnoxious, and vague, and amazingly fact-free. But next to Obama, he looked like a shiny golden god.

The thing that's not being discussed here is the fact that if Obama becomes too aggressive he risks appearing as a black militant, imagine Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton up there and you get the picture. The racist hate against him is an enormous factor and nobody wants to admit it. Anyone who's been following his presidency has to see that if they are honest with themselves.

Had Obama jumped all over Romney he would have appeared as some ghetto hoodlum in the minds of many Americans because so many of them are just waiting for an excuse to accuse him "pulling the race card."

On the other hand, Obama can sound too professorial, which also turns off a lot of people. I hope he finds his groove in the next debate because it would be a got damn shame if Romney gets elected.

While "angry black man" would piss off some people, those are most likely people who were already voting for Romney since Obama was so near.

This election comes down to turnout more than undecided voters. Obama needs to go into the debate and both energize his base as well as demoralize Romney's.

The Angry Black Man characterization could have been a problem in 2008. After 3 1/2 years the American people know Obama well enough that he can loosen up a bit. The people who will be outraged if Obama shows some anger are racists who wouldn't vote for him anyway.

Let me see if I've got this right... Romney told blatant lies, openly contradicted several major parts of his own campaign platform, promised to cut funding to a station that people were actually watching the debate on at that very moment, refused to give specifics on any of his policies, and treated the moderator like absolute shiat. But he did all of this with great confidence, so he is therefore the winner?

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

THX 1138: I doubt it was by design, but I thoroughly expect that the next debate will be something like this:

Obama: "On [X date], my opponent vowed [insert statement]. At the last debate, my opponent said [insert exact opposite of first statement]. These two positions are impossible to be held simultaneously, so Mr. Romney is clearly being untruthful on one or the other. I believe he owes it to Americans to tell them which of these two opposite statements he stands behind, and which one he was lying about just to pander to the public. he is an unscrupulous liar who doesn't deserve your vote"

(modify with next point and repeat for the duration of the debate).

I like this way better

Brubold: Krymson Tyde: But I was told Mr. Stewart was a left wing shill, that he was never critical of the democrats. Surely I wasn't mislead.

He's a left wing shill that only gets pissed at Democrats when they aren't liberal enough for his taste. He attacks Republicans for their political stances along with everything else. I don't recall seeing him attack a Democrat for a political stance unless it was a conservative political stance.

conservative political stances are mockable in themselves

that's why comedy has a liberal bias
