A few days ago, a package arrived. And within hours, Ceis (left, 10y) and Spot (right 5y) decided the box would make a good cat bed.

Well, my eldest cat passed away at 6:30 this morning. She was fine, as far as any of us could tell, up until yesterday. Then she just kinda started laying around more than normal, and skipped dinner. Then when I got up this morning she seemed to be having trouble breathing, and wouldn't budge from where she was at. By the time we located an e-vet that was open(downside of living in the middle of nowhere) she had passed on. She was about 17 years old.

For some damn reason, I can't find a single picture of her except on my phone, and I don't have a cord to connect it to my PC. Blarg.

Sprinkling powder med on gooshy food often works well, if you aren't jostled by eager Overlord/-Lady. Also wish to compliment Toshiro's gorgeous green eyes that weren't as colourful in earlier pic. He's a handsome guy, MajorGroove.
From today's paper: Garfield in scuba outfit, mask, tank & fins, for 2duplicated frames. 3d frame Jon says "I'm not making that much gravy!"
Also repeat of tale from earlier in wk, guy who lives not that far from us who's a piper (bagpipes). He goes to Mt Echo Pk in E Price Hill overlooking downtown to practise. Some may recall, pipes were classed as weapons of war Back In The Day.
Gordon Pipers who may still pipe for Indpls 500 rehearsed across street from late parents' house in smallish town West. of Indpls. Well played pipes can be treat, badly played require earplugs. May still have somewhere the practise chanter (wooden recorder-like instrument) used to learn before moving up to actual pipes, but it's Creatively Filed like my camera.

MajorGroove: Toshiro update: He has neither an infection nor an obstruction. He has Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease, aka nonspecific irritation of his bladder. His prescription? A special urinary tract diet. . .including MUCH more wet food. Not surprisingly, he has no problem with this! Anyway, the upshot is that he should be fine. Still thinking good thoughts for all the other kitties!!!

You can also mix the wet food with some water, to bump up the water intake. Works best with the pate style food.

Hi guys! I know I have been demoted to "that girl who used to post a bunch of LOLs". Sorry. I work most Saturdays now.

In the meantime, I need an opinion from all of you shelter-savvy peeps:

My auditorium will soon be doing a play that traditionally has a few kittens in it. I was thinking it might be cool to feature some kittens from a local shelter and do some sort of "sponsor a kitten adoption" thing to find homes for the kittens we use. Suggestions? Reasons why this is a stupid idea?

It haz benned one goggie year since mah last 'fession. Since dat time I haz sinned 154 times. I haz cheated by patting and rubbing goggies udder den mah own, including bringing one home wif me three weeks ago (Dat was Caesar).

And onz dis Wednesday, I was feelin' really frisky. I waited until Mrs. CDK went to work and den I shaved a pussy. But, I felt guilty and confessed what I did against her and I den sent her the photos I took....

It is great that she was fine up until the very end and had no long term suffering. That said, I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this loss without preparation. We'll all send you supporting vibes and good thoughts. And, we'll continue to be grateful that kitties like yours have such long lives with people who care for them.

John Buck 41: Meant to ask you in last weeks' thread but got in too late (early Tuesday AM). What's your MO? E-cigs? Chantix? Nicotine gum? Willpower/cold turkey?

Reason I'm so nosy is 'cos I'm (and Mrs. Buck) are both getting to that point.

When I quit 5+ years ago, I used Chantix. I had none of the weird dreams that some people have while using Chantix. Well, let me rephrase...my dreams were no weirder than usual :o)

It was a difficult journey. I cut way down on coffee since that was a trigger and basically gave up drinking for a long time because alcohol was a HUGE trigger. It also helped that I kept one cigarette in the glove box of my car. Knowing that I had one if I absolutely needed it was comforting to me. In fact, that 1 cigarette is still in my glove box to this day. I can imagine that it's pretty stale at this point but I keep it anyway...

Also, never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would become one of those people, but I can't stand the smell of cigarettes anymore. But because I am such a nice person, I do allow my dad to smoke in the house. I would be pretty ok with CDK smoking in the house if he wanted, even though I would probably be spraying air freshener constantly, but he chooses to not smoke in the house.

No caffeine, nicotine, or alcohol all at once? I can't even imagine it. Mrs. Buck is ready to try the Chantix, but I'm leery 'cos of the potential nightmare aspects

I didn't become one of those people either, but I must admit I do notice that festering ashtray smell on people at times. I don't mention anything because it doesn't bother me that much and also the fact that I've been there. The only thing I noticed that really bothers me since I quit smoking is diesel fumes. I can't ride behind a diesel vehicle on the highway without feeling like I'm suffocating.

No, as a matter of fact, I did not "forget" to take my meds. I refuse to take them on the advice of the voices in my head. They say the meds make them too sleepy and untalkative. ;-)

Actually, Racer does not do a good job of self-grooming and developed a lot of bad mats on her lower back/rump area that would not brush out. Soooo....even though I have shaved a pussy many times before, this was my FIRST time shaving a pussy.

No apology needed! We're better than family here! We rarely argue!

:) Thanks and skritches to your furry owners.

I've found that adding a daily teaspoon of yogurt to Raven's diet has cut down substantially on both the quantity and...er...quality of her emissions.

She prefers the plain, live culture OikosTM to the ChobaniTM... but YMMV. We ARE talking cats, after all...

For heaven's sake, don't give them the flavored stuff! They'll probably snarf it down and ask for MOAR but it...how shall I put this...processes poorly (i.e., farts AND the runs).

Don't know what's worse...having a heads-up due to illness or them just picking up their traps and crossing the Bridge with no warning.
Either way, it leaves an aching cat-shaped hole in your heart.
