Are we sure that Biden isn't a Republican plant?

2012-10-04 06:02:22 PM
Remember when Clinton drastically raised the top tax bracket, and it led to a deep recession and a period of long, disastrous unemployment?

Yeah, neither do I.

2012-10-04 09:03:54 PM
when you spend and tax-cut your way out of a recession, you need to save and raise taxes once the recession is over. that's how you do it right.

2012-10-04 09:17:05 PM
Doing it wrong according to whom? That's a very popular position (unless you're a 1%er)

2012-10-04 09:24:08 PM
sigh. i should have gone to see joe today

/slept in instead.

I was told that the wars would be free and lower taxes would mean more tax revenue and jobs falling out of our assholes.

thomps: when you spend and tax-cut your way out of a recession, you need to save and raise taxes once the recession is over. that's how you do it right.

I was told "deficits don't matter."

2012-10-04 09:28:04 PM
Fellating the rich isn't going to get their votes or money, and there is no other reasonable alternative to solve the deficit problem, so yes, Biden is dong it quite right.

2012-10-04 09:29:10 PM
I swear,Obama is doing everything to get himself thrown out of office

2012-10-04 09:29:24 PM
Yes, increase in the 'let decreases expire' sense of increases. It's math.

2012-10-04 09:30:24 PM
Defining a return to normal tax rates as a "tax hike" is only one of the thousands of ways Republicans twist the facts.

Just once I'd like to see them try to defend their positions without lying.

Just once.

I miss Nixon.

*sigh*

Site won't load -- but let me guess. If the parenthetical quote is actually a honest summation, and we'll go back to Clinton era income tax rates, we'd probably raise a trillion over ten years. Sure. Probably more. Romney wants to cut taxes by five trillion.

What's the problem, again?

The debate with Ryan is going to be fascinating. I think pressure brings out the best in Joe.

This election will be decided by Honey Boo Boo. All they hear is "raise taxes", and instinctivly vote against whoever said it.

If that's the case, he's doing a very bad job at it. Obama has about a 80% chance to win at this point.

Since government always equals theft in the eyes of the Randian superman, I suppose counter argument can come from an actual thief. You tax rich people "Because that's where the money is".

Taxes are going up no matter who is elected. The choice is do you want Warren Buffett's taxes going up or yours?

I doubt it will be interesting, really. Ryan will imply repeat everything Romney said. He will answer every question with either "Stop lying about our plan" and "You want to cut medicare by 716 billion and kill it"

2012-10-04 09:40:47 PM
So I guess you libs have already forgotten Obama's explicit and repeated promises to not raise taxes on the wealthy? Jeez, it's like you people aren't even interested in fact and reality.

WIOD is the right-wing talk station down in Miami owned by Clear Channel. Of course it's going to misinterpret what Biden said.

You can want in one hand and shiat in another, which is going to get full first? I don't trust Obama one bit on taxes - he has shown himself time and again to be a reckless and irresponsible tax cutter, much in the mold of W Bush and Reagan.

Those num-nums aren't on the fence anyway. They already have a slew of half-truths and outright lies to drive their vote against Obama. Honestly, anyone who is undecided at this point is probably so stupid that they won't be able to find their polling place come election day. Problem solved!

So an entirely disingenuous performance by Romney is applauded as a win while Biden telling the truth is derided as an unforgivable gaffe? No one will remember that he said this in a week, and taxes are going to be going up once the Bush cuts expire. Deal with it.

Well, my first statement was "site won't load," so I don't know what Biden actually said. I even said "if" and "probably" just to be on the safe side... I know you Romneybots just love to pounce on one single word out of context, wolverine-like, and twist it to death, just because that's what you do...

If it's really as bad as that, you might as well eat a shotgun shell or move somewhere where the people are smarter. But, in fact, it isn't quite as bad as that. Most of the Honey Boo Boo-level crowd has already staked their claim; not much is going to matter at this point.

Keep in mind that InTrade has a bit of bias towards the kind of people that can afford to throw money at InTrade--especially the reactionary day trade crowd. It isn't an oracle.

Also, the now-cast is kind of silly. Too much can happen between now and November to call it with 96.9% confidence. I say that as a guy who is pretty sure Obama will win.

Obama could be running against Ahmadinejad and I wouldn't call it 96.9% certain a month out.

I rely upon the November forecast, though that could change substantially following President Obama's sub-par debate performance.

Seriously, if it gets close to a 50/50 chance that we're going to have not only a Romney/Ryan/Teabagger presidency, but the possibility of Supreme Court Justices Palin, Bachmann, or who knows who the fark in our near future, I want off this planet.

its totally fair that capital gains are taxed at half the rate of wages, without payroll taxes taken out either.
