could intrepid veteran journalist, Ric Romero possibly provide is with additional locations where this rare affliction has not yet been found? City by city or county by county... people need to know all of the possible locations where it has not been found!

And America's most worthless newspaper (The Wilmington News Journal) strikes again with its wonderful coverage of non news "news" while the New Castle County Council, the most corrupt political organization east of Chicago continues to avoid investigation!

No metropolis in America is as poorly served by its newspaper as Wilmington is.

Rarely have I seen reports of rare meningitis.

I love reading our local paper and finding all the errors. It's like "Where's Waldo" for English geeks.

Boo to Subby. Yes, it's rare, but there have been 38 cases, caused by a bad batch of medicine, so the Delaware health department had to keep an eye out for it. The bad medicine hadn't been shipped to Delaware, but it was in all of the neighboring states.

It's not big news, but the health department might as well send out a press release. People might well want to know, since there have been cases. The article contains a useful bit of info, to be on the lookout for symptoms.

If there's something to call the reporter out on it's the journalistic "Let's just take the press release, rewrite it a bit, and knock off early". Was there better news that could have filled those column-inches? Maybe, but it's not really a Fark-worthy offense against journalism. It's not important news, but it's news. Not everything has to be Watergate.

Keeping meningitis rare
It's rare, in Delaware

2012-10-04 05:56:27 PM
In unrelated news, five rare meningitis reporters have been summarily executed while trying to cross over the Delaware State Line into Delaware.

This rare event is to keep rare reports of rare meningitis from commonly being received in Delaware.

2012-10-04 05:58:29 PM
However, the common meningitis is running rampant, killing hundreds, with tens of thousands more cases expected by the weekend. The CDC is sending body bags and mobile incineration facilities.

Weather for the weekend is expected to bring cooler temps.

My ex went to school with a girl who died from meningitis.

A separate vector got me as a first-order contact, so I had to take anti-meningitis meds. Turned every fluid in the body bright freaking orange. You ever pee out bright orange? Sweat orange? Scary as all fark.

To be fair, most of them can barely read, so they may be serving their audience just fine.

You could also let it wait for a day or two. If you die, it was meningitis.

No. Don't do that. I comment on the Commercial Appeal. The religious superiority and political derp there makes the FARK Politics tab look like an Oxford Discourse.

We actually had a case of this lately in our area. The reason it's being called "rare" is that it's a fungal meningitis, not bacterial.

Rare? I want my meningitis well done.

Great I had a steroid injection in my back 1.5 months ago... And have had severe headaches recently.. Also weird thing the injection did nothing, I actually hurt worse after, and had some swelling.. Usually they provide some benefit, this one. ... Nothing..

Fungal meningitis? Oh, great, yet another thing to obsess over. Thank you corticosteroids. Thank you very farking much. As if viral and bacterial weren't enough, now fungal. How about cystic or hemorrhagic next? Or maybe a completely new, mutant form?

I'm gonna go drink. Enough grain alcohol ought to sterilize my body. Or at least render my sense of give-a-damn unconscious.

If you're in Wilmington check out Walt's Fried Chicken for lunch sometime, it's probably the best chicken in the state.
