11-5. And with Matt Cassel, no less. You could argue the system runs the Patriots' show.

Coaching and backups have a lot to do with that. Irrelevant to this argument.

Manning was clearly the greatest thing going for the Colts. Brady is good, but clearly the rest of the team is a good part of that.

In before a cowboys fan gets upset that the article took a shot at their qb

2012-10-04 07:11:57 PM
When the stats are this close, its easy to spin it in favor of one or the other. For example, over their peak 4 seasons, they had a .2% completion percentage, Manning threw 2 more interceptions, but had .5yards/completion more. Brady had far more yardage. So, Brady simply threw the ball more frequently, and reasonably, more TD passes come along with that.

/For the record, I think Brady is better because he plays better when the pressure is on. Not that I'm a Brady fan byay means, but, he's a hell of a QB.

That's a completely reasonable statement for a 28 year old guy who has thrown more than thirty TD's exactly once. I mean I like Rodgers and i will not be at all shocked if he turns out to be an all-time great. I just remember another guy who was gonna be an all time great who threw over 30 td passses and had a qb rating over 100 when he was 26 and came back with a couple more 4,000 yard years and then he blew his knee out. Now he sucks and will most certainly not be one of the all time greats. Rodgers is fantastic. But he's only in his fifth year as a starting qb so I'm gonna go ahead and let him play a few more years before I decide. Right now he looks like a guy with 7TD's, 3 picks and 12th in QB rating.

They are both fantastic. As is Brees. And they are some guys coming up who will probably break all their records anyway. And I really do hate these discussions. Trying to 'settle' things with numbers is completely irrelevant. this is a question that does not need to be answered and if you do answer it it means fark all.

Steve Young is my favorite player of all time, but I have to give the nod to Joe Montana. I believe Young only played two full seasons as the de facto starting QB. Joe Cool was pretty much Joe Durable too. On the whole, I think Montana simply did more with less, especially in the early years.

I still have a standing fatwa against Lawrence Phillips. If that asshat hadn't missed a key block on Aeneas Williams, Young might still have had a few more seasons left.
