In that part of the world? You betcha. Mammoth remains are so common in that part of Siberia that they've worked their way into the local folk lore as the steeds of the lord of the underworld (so unfortunately in native beliefs seeing one is bad luck and folks do tend to run away from them screaming.) Palentologists have made it clear however to one and all that folks who point them towards preserved mammoth caracasses can expect to get PAID and so a lot of the less superstitious locals do, in fact, have scientists on their speed dial

can we please play god just this once? I want wooly mammoth rides ant the circus before I die... right along with my moon vacation.... Oh yeah, and bring the dodo bird back too... thems biatches musta been delicious! We ate them to extinction! bring on the gourmet dodo bird recipes!

How awesome would it be to have an imaginary mammoth as a pet, and have everyone make fun of you; and then one day you tell all your classmates to come meet him down by the river, and then STOMP! TRUMPET! SCREAM! STOMP! FLATTEN!

I think it would be awesome, anyway.
