Oh look 0bama is reading from his TelePrompTer again. All is good

When Romney got on stage he met a person who looked like 0bama but wasn't able to defend his record and was only able to lie about Romney and tell a story about his grandma and a teacher he met while campaigning.

The best part was when Romney had his line about 0bama only picking losers. 0bamas response? A defense? No. Just a big smile. A really big smile.

MrBallou: mrshowrules: MrBallou: This is the sudden jerk that comes after you give a guy enough rope to hang himself. Should have happened last night, but if Obama can get this stuff to stick in the news, it'll go a long way toward making up ground.

When Kerry was helping Obama practice for the debates, I'm assuming a complete reversal on the entire Romney platform was one scenario they did not play-out.

With Quantum Romney, it should have been expected.

But as soon as Obama observed him, his position changed. There's no way he could have predicted it.

You can take this as a confirmation.

Disregard. This is the same bloody link.

Yup. If/when Obama comes out swinging in the next two debates, that's what people are going to remember. Obama has always been playing the long game. He now a ton of soundbites to mash up against all of Rmoney's positions in ads.

We're terribly sorry to tell you Obama that Romney is not the person you and your supports have conjured up in your minds... You on the other hand are everything conservatives think you are.

So then is Romney promising to cut taxes or not?
Which is it? I doubt you can even say and you are his supporter.

The next debate will be a lot harder for 0bama since 0bama has no counter punches against Romney. There is no romneycare equivalent or lies about 5T cuts in taxes or no regulations or killing uninsured people that 0bama can lie about

He did the same shiat to Clinton. We know the guy can turn his charm on and off, it's not like he ever goes on The View or the Daily Show looking hung over. His whole plan was to go out there with no teevee make-up and take notes and let Mitt rant until the dumb thing was over. See you next week sucker.

The debates mean about as much as preseason NFL games. If, after the last 12 months of bombardment, you had to wait for the debate to make up your mind, frankly I'd rather you not vote. 'Cuz the people who do probably don't even know who their Congressman is, or their Senator, nor what party they belong to.

Except that is not what happened and you know it

0bama and friends have been putting out straw men about Romneys position (oh look the GOP wants to get rid of all regulation and give huge tax breaks to the rich while allowing uninsured people to die)

They believed their own BS for so long they never thought that they would be called on it.

2012-10-04 03:44:39 PM

The_Great_Hambino: Putting aside Obama's tanking last night (and it was an incredibly tanking), the debate may allow for the most epic campaign ad ever.

There are video clips of Romney calling for tax cuts, saying teachers need to be fired, and basically every other position he flat out denied last night. It would not be very hard to play the videos back-to-back in a 30 second ad to show that Romney is just a liar.

I'm not at all saying that this was the strategy for the debate last night. But, it certainly creates an opportunity for a tremendous ad campaign from this point in. You finally have Romney taking a position, and that position happens to contradict everything he has been saying for the last 18+ months. It will be interesting to see if this plays out.

Knowing the Democrats, that will never happen.

Unless a SuperPAC steps in, don't ever to expect something like that to ever make the rounds.

obama didnt lose the debate, mitt just walked into the biggest trap ever. Not only did he not win the debate (if you call obama not performing as mitt winning) but he set himself up for the most brutal campaign ads. barack let him speak knowing that it wasn't going to be one mitt soundbite but the entire debate performance that would do him in. mitt, in that debate went against every single thing he's said so far, and now there's just a ton more soundbites that can be used against him.

President Obama is (objectively) among the most successful politicians. I was really disappointed after the debate. I thought he stunk. I admit now I was taken in. He has weeks of material here and along with Romney firing Big Bird, this will be how we will remember the debate.

"trickle down Government" was good.

he hit hard an green energy investment which Obama let slide

His weakest moment was basically confirming voucher-care for seniors and tell them that they would like shopping around for good insurance

ummm:

Who's right? The Washington Post's Fact Checker says the facts on this one are on Obama's side. The New York Times notes that Romney "has proposed cutting all marginal tax rates by 20 percent - which would in and of itself cut tax revenue by $5 trillion."

FactCheck.org has weighed in too, tweeting during the debate that "Romney says he will pay for $5T tax cut without raising deficit or raising taxes on middle class. Experts say that's not possible."

PolitiFact has given a "mostly true" rating to the charge that "Romney is proposing a tax plan "that would give millionaires another tax break and raise taxes on middle class families by up to $2,000 a year."

You're lying. They all said Obama is right. Romney is lying

Maybe Mitt should actually learn what tax breaks and such companies can get before saying there's a tax break that doesn't exist, when it very much does.

Exactly.
They have tried creating a narrative about Romney and then they are surprised that it isn't true

Here's what Politifact said:

President Obama said Mitt Romney seeks a $5 trillion tax cut.

The $5 trillion figure accounts for only half of Romney's plan -- and it's cumulative over 10 years. The governor says he will offset those lost revenues by reducing tax deductions and eliminating loopholes. However, he has never said what those changes would be.

The president made a misleading statement about an incomplete plan, but he did describe what the plan was missing and Romney would not fill in the gaps.

We rate the statement Half True.

Even Politifact knows that Romney is vulnerable to these sort of talking points by not being more specific about his tax plan.

I think that was Romney's screwup of the night. Even though I did think he came out on top just from a stylistic point of view.

People like PBS and don't think cutting a fraction of a percent of the budget is going to do much in terms of the deficit.

2012-10-04 03:56:00 PM
Perhaps Obama needs to watch the Sam Jackson "Wake the F*ck Up" video? Because he did seem tired last night, and on several occasions just let shiat slide that should have provoked a response. It might be strategy, but man, there was some parts where it was just painful to watch as Rmoney spewed talking point after talking point that were outright lies and not get called on it.

2012-10-04 03:56:03 PM
It was a combination of rope-a-dope and actual surprise. But I think it was a short term win, long term lose for Romney. It has created a lot of attack vectors against Romney if the Obama campaign can figure out how to use them.

Should they bust him on his flip flops? Or should they point out to his "base" that now he agrees with the Democrats on so many things? Maybe a mix and match approach?!

Such fun!

This "Romney wants to fire big bird" has legs. It's about one of the most discussed actual policy part of the debate that happened.
