WCMU is based out of Flint, MI? That's a pretty heavily-populated region of the country.

I believe WCMU would be for Central Michigan University, which is pretty middle of nowhere.

So now cutting out the fluff spending to NPR/PBS is going to end up KILLING education? Methinks that you may be overestimating the impact of PBS on education and the impact that federal funding has on PBS.

Maybe you're overestimating the "benefit" of cutting one television channel, when the majority of money can be saved from our bloated and pointless military budget, and all the money we keep sending Israel.

I'm not so sure we're the guard dog anymore, lately it seems Israel is an angry pitbull and we've been having trouble holding the leash. It only stays in the yard because we keep feeding it.

Although it's more likely I've been hearing the rhetoric for too long.

Israel's gotten a lot bolder and more aggressive because they have us backing them up, and people like Romney would eagerly do their bidding.

swinger833: I've heard so many people suggest drug testing for welfare recipients. Why isn't this something I'm hearing on a national level? I've tried to see the negative and I can't. Wouldn't that be a better place to bring an ax than PBS? Its not like politicians would lose them as a voting or tax base, people who actually need it (and still those who don't) would still get it, and kids of parents who are on drugs would be removed from bad situations. I'm almost hoping I'm missing something because otherwise I'm just going to be even more annoyed with government.

drug tests also cost money. iirc Florida tried this and spent more on tests than they saved. also possible 4th amendment issues.
