Did someone lock Jann Wenner out of the room during the nominations?

[soapbox]
For the haters, you can talk all you want about silly lyrics, shrill voiced singers or whatever but here are a few key facts:
44 years as a professional band
38 years(!) with the same lineup,
24 gold records and 14 platinum records over the course of their career (Only the Beatles and the Stones have had more)
79th in the world in albums sold
A reputation as one of the best live acts touring who consistently sell out every venue they play
Influencing thousands of musicians that followed them (talk to just about any rock drummer or bassist of the last 30 years - they all acknowledge their influence)

Regardless of whether you like their music, you can't argue with their impact. There's no question they deserve to be in the Hall
[/soapbox]

/Assuming they're inducted, they should play this at the ceremony just to confuse people
//or at least have Kim Mitchell induct them

Glad to see Albert King get some props, but honestly, I lost all interest in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame when Madonna got in.

You know who's probably happier than anyone else about this; Eddie Trunk. He's not only been stumping for Rush, Heart, and Deep Purple(among others), but he has openly criticized Wenner and his cronies for years. Today's a good day for The Trunk.

This would be well deserved

I think it means more to their fans than to them.

I'm a big fan, but I don't give a shiat about the Rock n' Roll Jan Wenner's favorite acts so Rush ain't getting in until he's dead Hall of Fame. It has Madonna for fark's sake! I wish they'd get in and reject it, but they're too canadian polite to do such a thing. Though I suspect they will get snubbed again. Wenner's just trolling the Rush fans that actually care.

AHHH. Good times jamming out to Handclapping Song while sneaking a tokerarino on the way to my job at Riverwalk.

I was so very fortunate to have the privilege of spending ages 19-24 living, working and going to school in that fabulous town and getting to be friends with its awesome, sincere and hardworking citizens. So many magical nights and The Meters provided the soundtrack often. Place and time I can never replicate.

Especially when it's spent the past twenty years being The Hall of Musicians Jann Wenner Likes Sucking Up To And Will Put Butts In Seats at The Induction Ceremony. You can see why they use the shorter name.

"Women's restrooms at Rush concerts are the world's lonliest place"

It is true. My wife and my sister where able to go to the bathroom during the intermission of the Time Machine tour, and this was something like "a couple dozen port-a-potties for thousands upon thousands on a gigantic stadium". I knew better than to try the men's restrooms.

One thing I always respected about Rush, and why women don't swoon over them...they don't write cheesy love songs.

I understand the love for all this year's nominees.

What I do not understand is the lack of induction for Big Mama Willie Mae Thornton, the Johnny Burnette Rock 'N' Roll Trio, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Billy Ward & His Dominoes, Esther Phillips (aka Little Esther), and dozens of other performers who influenced every nominee this year.

Yes, I'm old. Old enough to remember "Rocket 88" on the radio.
