The problem with Rush and this Rock & Roll thingie...
it's the Roll part.
Nobody rolls with Rush.

Consider the people that listen to Rush: they "rock" with their air guitars until they get winded... and then they lie down until the van picks them up from the community center.
They'd get the "Roll" part it Bertrude didn't insist on listening to Glenn Beck all the time.

All three of the bands listed in TFA's headline belong in the Hall of Fame. That is all.

Rush -- isn't that the band with a lead singer who sounds like he's getting a colonoscopy with a Black & Decker?

That it took this long just shows the Rock &Roll hall of fame is a joke.

I'm not a fan of Rush...Geddy Lee's voice is like fingernails down chalkboard to me. That being said, I can't deny their musicianship, longevity and success...they belong in the Hall.

Not the bands I listen to, they're pretty obscure. You've probably never heard of them.

Lets try this again

I would post a Meters link but you'd look silly bobbing your head up down saying, "aww yeaa."

The Meters are f*cking awesome. Check out the albums "the Meters" and "Cabbage Alley" if you think you might like 70s funk. probably their others as well, but those are the two I have so...

an example

I think it means more to their fans than to them.

I'm a big fan, but I don't give a shiat about the Rock n' Roll Jan Wenner's favorite acts so Rush ain't getting in until he's dead Hall of Fame. It has Madonna for fark's sake! I wish they'd get in and reject it, but they're too canadian polite to do such a thing. Though I suspect they will get snubbed again. Wenner's just trolling the Rush fans that actually care.

He pretty much does.

Blame Robert Plant and his terribly successful band for Geddy's vocal tone. It's just what was in at the time Rush started (in fact when Rush had its first radio hit people would call the station and ask what was the name of that new Led Zep song), and it stuck.

Yes - albeit at a somewhat higher pitch. Geddy is one of a bunch of artists doing radio spots for RADD (sp?).

It is true. My wife and my sister where able to go to the bathroom during the intermission of the Time Machine tour, and this was something like "a couple dozen port-a-potties for thousands upon thousands on a gigantic stadium". I knew better than to try the men's restrooms.

If women controlled the HOF, Justin Beiber would already be in it.

This would be well deserved

You know who's probably happier than anyone else about this; Eddie Trunk. He's not only been stumping for Rush, Heart, and Deep Purple(among others), but he has openly criticized Wenner and his cronies for years. Today's a good day for The Trunk.

I don't know what kind of Fly by Night operation the Hall of Fame runs, but I hope their ruling is Closer to the Heard, or it will be Farewell to the Kings. The Best I Can figure is that Rush's nomination is an appeal to the Different Strings, or perhaps some Grand Design. Does Rush even have a Ghost of a Chance? I Hope. To me it is Heresy that their victory is even in doubt, given how long they've been in the Limelight.

We'll be in Limbo until then, because the final decision is under Lock and Key. Will Rush win One Little Victory, or just be Nobody's Hero?

i just hope "the Enemy Within" get into the RHOF as a song!
/muscles tense!

The only reason Rush made it this year is because Cliff Robertson is on the selection panel. He was the A&R guy from Mercury Records who discovered them in '74 and brought them to his label.

They'd join other rock luminaries also nominated this year such as Public Enemy and N.W.A.

I read somewhere that if Rush made it they should pull a Bad News Bears and say "WE DON'T WANT YOUR STINKIN TROPHY!" How awesome would that be

2012-10-04 01:46:19 PM
I can't stand Rush, but I won't deny they're actually talented.

That said, The Meters definitely deserve to get in as well.
