I am so glad the Nationals didn't pursue this guy.

The entire city of Boston is gonna pursue this guy... with pitchforks, tar and feathers.

Justice, Bawstahn style.

"According to the Times, Valentine said he was reading a text message from second baseman Dustin Pedroia when he had to swerve to avoid people in front of him. "

Text from Pedroia "TAKE UR RAPS AND GO BAK TO JAPAN, JERK"

Yesterday some guy who was walking while looking at his phone almost walked into me, but at the last second saw me and bumped me out of the way. I really hate people who walk/bike while looking at their phones. Valentine's an idiot.

I always thought Boston was more of a torches and clubs kind of town when it came to violently inclined throngs pursuing an individual.

According to the Times, Valentine said he was reading a text message from second baseman Dustin Pedroia when he had to swerve to avoid people in front of him. He fell off the bike and suffered minor injuries to his knees and hips.

In Boston that would have been a crime punishable by two years in jail. If a text message is the proximate cause of a injury or property damage, it's reckless driving per se.

You know, as an old school Red Sox fan, I can brush this season off. Hell, LAST year was worse than this! At least this year I *KNEW* the team was done in May.

At least he's really likeable.

Yeah, there was a nice pattern to the Red Sox back before '04. The season starts off with thoughts of "This is the year. We have a great squad." Then by mid-season, you think "Wow, they really are this great. We might go all the way." Then August comes around and you get "Wait, how did they lose those games. I'm worried they might not pull it off this year." And finally, acceptance "Ha ha. Let's see how epically they can blow these last few weeks of games."

Valentine was set up to fail.

"I shouldn't have been reading a text while I was riding. That's the wrong thing to do," Valentine said.

No shiat moran.

Just don't let him back into the booth after he gets canned.

To be fair, a lot of times they would limp into the playoffs, have an electrifying game or two, and THEN break your heart? Was it the 98 team or the 99 team that lost to Cleveland in four? With Pedro coming out of the bullpen to win a game?

Remember 1995? They finally won the Division and then lost every game in the post season?

i don't even want to talk about 2003. I'm still not over it.

As a Sox fan I most definitely can as well. The Red Sox are bigger then any Player(s), Manager or Owner... That being said Valentine is not the guy for the job, they need a drill sergeant, someone to help mold the players and build up a team because right now it's a cluster fark. Valentine doesn't show any of the skills needed for building a team

Nonsense. He and Francona need to have their own Boston-specific PTI type show

That's the second text that got him in trouble this year.

They'd be better off going after the idiot ownership and management of the Red Sox who put this guy in place - and I'm not talking about Ben Cherington.

I'm thrilled that Varitek is part of the organization again. Initially he's just there to learn the ropes of the organization from top to bottom. I'm excited to see what kind of role he takes a few years from now.

Also not satisfied with proving he can't figure what he should be paying attention to.

Ernie 'Coach' Pantusso: To hell with that. Let's hang him right here in Boston.

I almost think that was the point of hiring Valentine in the first place. Any manager would have had a hard time coming in after the way Francona was let go. Maybe the team figures that by hiring the worst possible choice, whoever follows him will have universal support from the players and fans?

Billy Martin would have been fine with it.

Back around the end of the 90's and early 00's I worked for a company in NYC for 5 years, and the major reseller we did business with was Manchester Equipment Corporation, the majority owner being Bobby Valentine. At the end of every year he'd throw a huge party in downtown Manhattan for his clients and he'd always bring a few of his players. He's nice as hell to his clients, for what that's worth, but then with a personality like his I guess you'd have to be.

I'm hoping they can at least pull off a win tonight. I would love to see the Orioles have a chance to win the division in a one-game playoff against the Yankees.

Good luck with that win. Stranger things have happened tho.

I don't have high expectations. Pitching aside, the Sox have been playing like shiat all around.

But it is still a Sox/Yankees game. Unexpected stuff is bound to happen. And to take 4+ hours to do so.

Holy Shiat, you Red Sox fans are melodramatic and sad.

You guys won TWO World Series' in the last decade. Get over the 20th Century, already!

Last season you goofs barely missed the playoffs and your nutbag fan base wanted to burn Fenway to the ground and put Terry Francona's (who should have been named Boston Manager FOR LIFE after what he accomplished) severed head on a pike and toss his decapitated body into the Harbour.

Life aint so bad for a Red Sox fan anymore so please quit your damn biatching

The fans still like Francona. They hate the owners for getting rid of him and how he was treated on his way out.
