Remember Eminem's "Stan"? Well,Beck is the embodiment of that.

Matt Bellamy is the white Prince (I'm talking guitar skills).
Glen Beck is... not.

The cognitive dissonance that exists within Glenn Beck is truly something to behold.

Muse was pretty fun around their Origin of Symmetry and Absolution days, and while I'm aware the riff on "Plug in Baby" is, um, borrowed from Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, goddamn it makes me moist every time I hear it.

Pretty much everything they'd made in the last 5-8 years or so is...meh

First the twitards and now this douche, why do Muse attract the weirdest fans? I liked Muse back when they released Hysteria and now, they attracted the zany train.

This is still #2 to Paul Ryan being a fan of "Rage Against the Machine".

It's true - I have an old friend who is completely detached from reality and believes she is married to Matthew Bellamy. I have no idea why she hasn't been committed yet, but it's sad and frightening.

Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and turns driven time and again off course, once he had plundered the hallowed heights of Derp.

Typical LSM hypocrisy. Glen Beck writes a fan letter to a mediocre yet harmless group and is villified for it. Meanwhile, nobody has anything negative to say about Obama's love for Skrewdiver and Prussian Blue.

Why Would I Read the Article: ZOMG some politicians like music. Quick, let's all make fun of them!

Please explain to me exactly what political office Glen Beck was elected to.

Actually we're making fun politicians/pundits who are fans of bands/singers who are agianst everything they stand for.

When reading these stories I have often wondered what it feels like to know that the creator of art you love absolutely hates you. I feel like I would have to write that artist off. Now matter how awesome it is to P90X to Rage Against the Machine, to know that they really hated me and would prefer if people like myself didn't exist would bother me. I'm not sure Mr. Muse has that same reaction to Beck that Morello had with Ryan, I just find it something interesting to think about.

If I was trapped in a room with Rush, Beck and Stalin and given a gun with only one bullet, the decision would be too difficult and so I'd have ask Stalin to choose.

That's a valid point, though the difference between talking heads and politicians is growing smaller at an accelerating pace.

Hey, I have an open letter for Muse as well.

Dear Band Members of Muse,

I really like your band. I have listened to them since Absolution (circa 2004) and adored tracking down and listening to your older albums. I refuted those who said you were a Radiohead clone, citing the fact that you were much louder (awesome wall of sound) and made basic classical music theory easy for the masses to relate to. The first time I head "Knights of Cydonia" I wanted to start a bar fight whilst making love to a lady I'd never met (the video for this song confirmed my feelings as accurate). Your 5th studio album, The Resistance, felt like a tribute album to several different influential musical artists (The Killers, U2, Depeche Mode, Queen, Mars Volta, Camille Saint-Saëns), however I did not let that discourage me from enjoying it thoroughly.

I listened to your new album The 2nd Law yesterday. What the fark happened? How did this thing you did go so wrong? It's not about having a dubstep drop in the middle of one of your songs (you've always been a bit progressive and experimental), nor is it about one of your songs sounding like a ripoff of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For": it's the fact that half the songs on the album start slow, crescendo to what would normally be the apex of the song, then whimper into nothingness. What happened to the loud, chaotic noise that somehow managed to organize itself into tiny musical orgasms? Why do you want one of your songs to so badly be used in the next James Bond film (we all know Daniel Craig just isn't the Bond anyone's looking for)?

I tried listening to every track of the album again today, but my mind (now in its broken state since yesterday) forced my hand to change to the next track on every single song. I hope that you someday find yourselves again. Until then, I'll listen to "New Born" on repeat, silently weeping in the corner.

Signed,
justabitdisturbed

Because People in power are Stupid: Melpomene

Ah, yes, the Muse of Douchebaggery

Now let me get this straight, Glenn Beck aside. Does Fark:

a) Hate Muse because they're bad at music (i.e. because they're popular and hipster douchebaggery abounds) OR...

b) Hate Muse because their music has changed over time (i.e. because we're a bunch of former 13-year-old girls)?

I like Muse. I don't love every song but the band is tight, talented, and bombastic.

Are you talking about Madness? Because I heard that song and instantly decided I wasn't buying this album. If I wanted to listen to a shiatty U2 song, I'd listen to U2.

2012-10-03 02:26:08 PM
Haven't heard much from their new album but I like Muse. A song like "Take a Bow" is what I imagine mainstream rock music should sound like in this decade. instead it's mostly stale post-grunge, watered-down metal, and retro hipstery stuff.

Me: I'd like to return my Muse CD.

I was referring to "Big Freeze". "Madness" is just an anticlimactic electronic mess (thought I can feel a U2 vibe there).

Dude from Muse is a self-proclaimed "a left-leaning libertarian." Beck is a right-leaning libertarian. Seems to me they share some common middle ground,.

There's a couple of U2 sounding songs on it. Madness I link more to INXS or George Michael.

Do you believe man can rule himself? Or does he need someone ruling over him to force him to be good and charitable?

Not all people are equal, and not all people are capable of ruling themselves. The case can be said of what do you do for the people who need leadership, guidance, and to be protected not just from others who might exploit them, but protection from themselves? Sure, you can callous and say let Darwin sort them out, but as a species and civilization our merits are not just the merits of the few strong enough to climb above the muck.

I'm listening to the new album right now so I'm getting a kick... Muse is one of my favorite bands in part because their music has changed over time. And they are hands down the best live band I've seen. One of the rare groups who are better live than on the album.

Sorry, Glenn, they're not going to blow you. Try dotting your "i"s with little hearts next time.

Weird, Madness the first time I heard it instantly made me think of the Edge's song "Numb" off of Zooropa... haven't listened to the whole album yet.

Found Muse by reading Fark comments, then later seeing them on Palladia. I never watched Twilight (cause I'm a grown ass man). I would say the equivalent would be hearing U2 for the first time around Zooropa. I have since gone back and listened to a lot of them, wondering how I'd missed it. Then I remembered I live in INdiana. It's great karaoke music, sang Knights of Cydonia last nite.

Glenn Beck is a supermassive ass hole.
