PallMall: Egoy3k: So what you have a no wheeled cart policy in your garage or do you just enjoy being a douche to strangers?

I have a "If you're a beggar, you're gonna work for whatever I give you." policy.

1. Dolly would have made his job too easy.
2. The engine only had 60k miles on it.. technically worth a few hundred $$$ in as-is shape. (if he scrapped it, he's a complete moron)
3. I needed a good chuckle, and it came to me.
4. Haters gonna hate!

PallMall: I'm sure you guys would have wanted me to carry it out there myself and load it on to his truck for him, then shake his hand and wave as he went on down the road.

No, but not using the down on his luck guy offering to take garbage away guy for your own personal amusement would be nice. If the engine was valuable to you and not scrap then you should have sent the guy on his way empty handed. If it's useless then let the guy get it out of your way and go on about his day. imposing arbitrary rules for your own amusement just means you are a terrible human being.

I'm sure your insurance would have been really pleased with you if this guy had manged to injure himself on your property all so you could have a laugh.

I'll keep this short and sweet.

Had a "Spec Home " ripped off of electrical wire ,plumbing pipe and furnace coils. About $10,000.00 in material and labor repairs. The cooper thieves probably made a few hundred dollars after leaving all this wreckage in their wake.

Sheriff takes report and informs me that gangs actually target these homes and clean them out.

Months later at Recycle Center on Monday dropping off cans, just have to note the Chevy truck with rims loaded with rolls of wire and cooper pipe cut to length. ( Not that plumbers are in the habit of leaving 5' foot length of pipe behind or electricians leave spools of 12/2 wire.

Recycle Centers are just criminal fronts receiving and reselling valauable goods from a stable of thieves.

PallMall: AbbeySomeone: We recently replaced our stove. Mr.S put it out in the yard and within 24 hours we had people knocking on the door asking if they could haul it away; same thing happened with our dead water heater.

Happened to me when I was doing an engine swap in one of my old cars. Mexican dude in a truck full of junk walked in to my garage and asked if I had any scrap I wanted hauled away.

I told him if he carried the old engine block by hand, he could have it.

That sumbish did it, although I imagine his yambag blew out shortly thereafter. My buddy and I just laughed as we watched oil pour all over him as he strained with everything he had to get it to his truck. Only took him about 5 minutes to make the 30 or so feet.

/CSB, but good times.
