Yet another reason that I'm starting to really like Mark Cuban.

2012-10-03 09:19:30 AM
Please buy the Mariners, Mark. Yes, really.

2012-10-03 09:22:09 AM
Gotta like the dude, does good things with his fortune, and when he does "stupid" things it rarely affects anyone but himself and he totally owns it.

2012-10-03 09:27:59 AM
Why didnt people like him in the past?

2012-10-03 09:29:22 AM
I would really like to have a beer with that guy. He has to be the most normal billionaire ever

2012-10-03 09:32:33 AM
I used to think he was an obnoxious prick who hit the lottery in the dot com craze and thought he earned it. He seems like a pretty cool guy.

2012-10-03 09:35:33 AM
Not that I agree, but yet another reason Uncle Bud Selig won't let Cuban in MLB. Sad. Guy is a great owner. I do agree he seems like someone I'd like to hang out with.

2012-10-03 09:46:26 AM
That guy is pure awesome. I don't even like the NBA and I was happy when the mavs won it, just for his sake.

Gunny Highway: Why didnt people like him in the past?

Because in '05-'06 he would yell and curse and start booing campaigns against ex-Mavs players who played against the Mavs at home. He was fined a lot for being a dick and Nowitzki publicly called him out on it. Since then, we've learned he matches fines with charitable donations, it's become a bit more of common knowledge he's a hands-on owner, he's a good businessman with a hilarious personality, and he's got a media presence that others only wish they had.

This.

I was one of those that didn't like him at first, but he's become a likeable personality. He's been known to show up on the road at random cities, and will buy up drinks for the entire bar.

Broadcast.com was the 2nd time he became rich off a tech company he started. The first time he "only" made millions, which he then spent flying around the world and dating actresses in LA. When that was gone, he went back to work making his second fortune. There are few people in the country/world that have the business sense that he does.

ZOMG, a guy is drunk and dancing Gangnam Style! This is only news because it's Mark Cuban.

I've always liked his style. Mostly because he's passionate and a sharp businessman.

Honestly America would be a whole lot better off if there were more CEOs like Mark Cuban, who gave a damn about his company, stood up for his employees, and understood that doing right is more important than looking right.

/Cuban for President?

Yup, I knew that. He seems to be able to catch a wave as it's breaking and bail before it closes out.

Brody would be proud.

THIS. The guy is just COOL. Party? Yeah let's party. Yeah I'm filthy rich, but I am SOMEWHAT NORMAL just like you and like to get my drank on. Met Herb Kohl (senator-WI/Bucks owner-short old gay guy) don't see partying with him anytime soon but Cuban is someone I would LOVE to have as a boss/owner yeah opinionated and MLB would be so lucky to have him as an owner. Old Fart Bud Selig needs to go. Pete Rose needs to be in the HOF. Last Manager/Player in baseball. Need to see that again. Times gone by I guess... (fond memories of Billy Martin kicking the dirt at old County Stadium in Milwaukee)

If he can't be president I'd settle for letting him completely overhaul the patent office

Every time I decide I love Cubes I'm reminded that he's a filthy Hoosier alum. Although I must confess to having a couple of exceptional nights at both Kilroy's locations.

I don't remember dry humping a beer bottle as being part of the dance craze, all though most of the scenes in that video were stranger than that.

eh, give the youtube video a 3 minute try just to see what the hype is. It's just a subculture joke thats being blown out of proportion. The acoustic version is surprisingly a good song though.

Oh no, he definitely earned it. He knew what he wanted to do, but didn't have the knowledge. So he spent all his money on books & industry mags and farking learned it. He absolutely did it himself. Did he get lucky with Broadcast.com? Hell yeah, he did. But most.... no, I'll say all billionaires have benefited greatly from some luck.

He is the coolest mofo. Love him 5EVAR!

From what I have read, Cuban will do whatever he can to keep his players happy. He will spend money to build the team... buy the best private team jet he can afford to fly his team around, etc.

When Jordan played in the 90's, he had money battles with the Bulls owner. I don't think Cuban would have had battles with Jordan when it came to money, especially after winning multiple titles together.

Not only does he keep his team happy, he makes playing for the Mavs look attractive to other players. The visitor's locker room in the AAC is just as nice as the Mavs' locker room.

You know... that's pretty ingenious. He's next to Chris Kluwe as one of the few sports figures that Fark universally loves, which makes me wonder if there's a third person out there to complete the trifecta. Any suggestions?

If we're not limiting it to active players, I'd nominate all-time home run leader Henry Aaron.

After watching this last night for the second time (and crying yet again):

ecx.images-amazon.com

Not to mention all the other cool things he does (players rec league soccer in the summer, charity, charity, charity, travels the world, etc...).

I nominate Steve Nash (his current team notwithstanding).

Um, Steve Nash in a landslide.

I mean, people don't even hate him after going to the Lakers. There's no way you can measure up against that amount of universal like.

Arian is a great Twitter-er. Since they are off today, he asked his followers what high school football team practice should he visit today. Of course he was flooded with responses from kids in class (glad to see teachers here in Houston are paying attention to kids playing with their phones in class). He really knows how to endear himself to his fans.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of an active player, otherwise we could be here all day. Nash seems like a really good choice.

I've loved him since he was with the Mavs. And I can't hate him for going to the Lakers, either. I'm slightly annoyed at him for making me root for a Lakers championship, but he needs a ring.

I liked what he said yesterday. Something about how he's not famous, just temporary popular. His twitterings are what convinced me how awesome he is.

If Nash gets a ring with The Lakers, he would undoubtedly be a major reason why The Lakers actually one the title... unlike Gary Payton's ring with the '06 Heats, which he played a small role helping The Heats win that title.

/ I'm sure Gary wanted his ring as the leader of The Sonics.
