Like I said though not subby's fault since the article calls it the DSM-IV, author probably doesn't realize the IV stands for 4 and not "eye vee". The next one has had a lot of controversy with it. Well I guess it does according to Mrs rikkards (although she kept her maiden name so what do I call her?) since that stuff interests her. She is weeks from being able to apply to graduate on her Masters (I will be glad when this is over.

/yes I see what you did there.

Goddamn, the DSM5 is a royal shiat show. It's this late in the process and they're still trying to add disorders to it? Know what? Screw it, keep the IV-TR, and go from there. These idiots are obviously too incompetent to develop it.

I suspect that this will become the latest in a line of genuine problems that get so horribly overdiagnosed, misdiagnosed, and self-diagnosed that it'll take a full generation or longer before anyone takes it seriously again.

You can become mentally/emotionally addicted to ANYTHING. Just watch the TLC show "My Strange Addiction" You don't need to put every single thing in a manual.

Physical addiction is a completely different beast.

Pretty much. There's a reason they renamed Multiple Personality Disorder to Dissociative Identity Disorder. (That and the name it more accurate.) Not to mention that very few people are actually hypochondriacs.
/Most of the people I've talked to are not happy about the DSM-5. Though they are adding Psychopaths and Sociopaths again but under different names.
