Yep, bye bye Dogs. Lots to love in that game (Posey, Zito, etc.), but my favorite part was probably Kemp getting totally pwned all night and throwing his bat after Kontos K'd him.
Go Giants!!

A real Giants fan would read it in Lon Simmons' voice.

There must be a mistake. I distinctly remember being told a few months ago that the Dodgers are the best team in baseball and that Matt Kemp will win the NL MVP.

Hey, now, we all know from the giant MVP threads the past few days that the Angles are a bunch of plucky, no-talent ass-clowns who have been saved by Jesus himself descending from the heavens in the guise of Mike Trout.

And that's why you don't bunt. Because it sounds nice, but nobody considers what happens when you put one of your hitters in an 0-2 hole. It's all "he'll get it down and we have a guy on 2nd!" Not. "There's some chance he'll get it down and if he doesn't, that's bad."

It was a bad move. Worse was getting a third out at third base. Damn it.

Wait til next year. Maybe by then, Donnie Baseball will learn how to manage a bullpen. Go Dodgers.

Mark Ellis trying to stretch a stand-up double into a thrown-out-halfway-to-third triple was the game (especially considering Victorino legit tripled right after)

A few months ago Kemp was a beat with the bat... then he got injured. Dodgers had a lot of injuries this year and no top notch prospects to call up and the trades didn't work out as good as Dodgers' fans would have liked.

Why the fark am I posting in a baseball thread? I don't even like baseball but I'll probably watch the 9th inning of games 4-7 of the World Series.

That would be an amazing feat, since they play in the National League.

Not at all. It means that Kyle Lohse (16-3, 2.86 ERA) will pitch against the Braves in the wild card playoff on Friday. Should they win that game, Adam Wainwright would be on the mound for game one of the NLDS. Rendering today's game meaningless allows them to get their pitching aligned for the playoffs.

Perhaps the Reds will be able to slide under the Cards now that today's game is unchokeable for them, so they can come take care of the Giants for you.

Good attempt by the Blue Crew this year. Thanks for making the SF/LA rivalry more intense this year. The better the competition, the sweeter the victory.

Now, let's get the A's to win the AL West today. So that the Giants crushing their Cinderella story in a Bay Bridge Series will be so sweet, I'll go into diabetic shock.

I watch Baseball Tonight last night and it was Yankees, Yankees, Greenberg, Yankees, Cabrera Yankees, Oakland v Rangers, Yankees. I come to Fark and Posting about a great story in a Dodger/Giants thread.

Oakland is doing something great with a no-names and retreads. It deserves better coverage.

I couldn't agree more. If Oakland wins it all, it'll be like this season never even happened. C'mon ESPN, you're missing a great season here!

I've been comparing this years' A's to the 2010 Giants; Both teams made up of rookies, has-beens, and never-weres. Both teams beat the odds, by a LOT, and made the playoffs.

Now we just need to see if Oakland will have the same post-season success as the 2010 Giants.

Even if they lose, it's been one hell of a year for Bay Area Baseball.

Judging by last night's performance, yeah, winning on their own is just too got-damned difficult. I wanted them to win, but they seemed content to leave runners on base.

I'm glad the Dodgers lost since the Cards can now adjust their rotation for the playoffs rather than having to go all out tonight, but damn, I'd have preferred them to go in on their own two feet.

/Going to tonight's game, will apparently get to see Shelby Miller start.

Considering they've gone 3-2 in their last five against the two teams fighting for best record in the NL, I'll take it. Going in to the last 6 games with a slim second Wild Card lead, I wasn't holding out too much hope, considering the hot streak the Dodgers were on and a San Fran team that didn't have much to play for.
