Evil Mackerel: Who?

Someone who isn't doing their "self-promoting" job very well I guess.

Evil Mackerel: Who?

My reaction as well. What's the likelihood the link was submitted by her agent and/or publicist?

Fark is making me too cynical.

Evil Mackerel: Who?

From what I could glean from the article, it's someone who wants to be punched in the face.

According to the article, she is a vegan slut who finds satisfaction in dispensing clichés branded as advice.

If she wears socks and shoes that don't match, skinny jeans, plaid male flannel shirt (open, with a Ramones or PBR shirt underneath), and a trucker hat, then she'll be accepted in NYC!

I wonder how disconcerting it must feel for these people to struggle for years and years to get truly, seriously internet famous but never quite blow up, and then watching people like Rebecca Black hit the stratosphere inside of a week with no effort, no PR, and through no fault of their own accord.

Who is this and why do WSJ readers care?

She's a Nothing Celebrity. They're a NY phenomenon. In NY you can get by on who you know, but all LA cares about is how you relate to The Industry.

"She longed to live in a community that didn't value thinness and career success above inner-beauty. She moved to Los Angeles."

That's appropriate, as no matter what you do in L.A., your behavior is appropriate for the city.

I'm still not quite sure what this person does for a living, why she's famous, or why anyone would possibly care for her.

Minimal.

She was semi-infamous for no discernible reason in Silicon Alley/Silicon Valley circles a few years back (the types of folks who read Valleywag, Alley Insider, TechCrunch, etc); dated Jakob Lodwick, a founder of Vimeo, etc.

I just thought the quote was hilarious.

You know, as I get older and older I find myself not even recognizing names of the new-blood "famous". Half the entertainment crap I hear I'm thinking "Who is that?"

It feels wonderful.

For the longest time, I didn't know who Kim Kardashian was...until days ago, I didn't know who Honey-boo-bear was. Now I do...f*ck.

I don't know who Rebecca Black is and I don't want to know.

I hate even HEARING the names...because then I'll experience that phenomenon where once you know a word or name, you hear it everywhere.

Her boyfriend hits all 88 boxes on her ideal boyfriend list.

88? What are they, piano keys she plays to manipulate him?

Oh, and she's a 'writer'. That's good to know, since Amazon is a publisher.

It wasn't her first trip back but perhaps her most triumphant because she was toting with her the long wished-for reality-show cred

"Loves me unconditionally" in a romantic relationship is total derp. It's what you say about family members, especially the addicted, broke, and narcissitic sibling/parent/whatever.

What it should be: "loves and cherishes me for the joy and happiness I bring to his life".
