George W. Bush: That poverty has roots in a history of racial discrimination, which cut off generations from the opportunity of America. We have a duty to confront this poverty with bold action. So let us restore all that we have cherished from yesterday and let us rise above the legacy of inequality. When the streets are rebuilt, there should be many new businesses, including minority-owned businesses, along those streets.

That does it. I'm NOT voting for George W. Bush anymore. What an ASSHAT!

It took them awhile to try to dig up something to try to distract from the 47% video. 2007? Fail.

The problem is that now we have proof that President George W. Bush was a secret Muslim all along. And there is not a goddamn thing we can do about it. We're through the looking glass here, sheeple.

They are hoping it at least garners a question tomorrow night and makes Obama squirm. The base would love that. But actually, I am thinking that's Plan B. My guess is that they really hope the video isn't mentioned tomorrow night so they can scream "LIBERAL DEBATE MONITORS PURPOSEFULLY IGNORING THIS 5 YEAR OLD VIDEO!!! LIBERAL BIAS!!! POLLS ARE SKEWED!!!

Actually, they dug up his 1998 "I believe in redistribution" video to distract from the 47% comments. This 5-yo video is just another straw they're clutching at.

Words echo across time, subby. They echo and they resonate like resonating words, like a tuning fork struck just so: hmmmmmmm. And the resonance is just so: cicadas in the night, wind whispering over grass, tree frogs. It is like the ripples in a pond growing ever wider as they surge to cause the inevitable tsunami across the world. A whisper hissed five years ago is a screaming cry today, a voice raised unto the heavens, a caterwaul in the darkest night. 2007, you say? I say today. I say right now. I say forever from here to the end of days; the echo, bringing down the world.

Dear Republicans,

If Obama's issue with Wright did not stop him against Hillary Clinton, someone more politically experienced, popular and wealthy than him, what makes you think it will make him lose against Romney?

Yes Obama is a total radical and a threat to the future of democracy.

This is why he rules as a moderate from the political center-right.

I learn so much here.

2012-10-03 02:19:22 AM
So on the "Booga Booga white people" scale, is this worse than when he mentioned he had Jay-Z on his iPod or is this almoat a "hugged a black guy at Harvard"?

Also, this whole "The Vetting" plan was already a parody of actual journalism, but its starting to become a parody of a parody.

The right wing blogosphere is basically a Freidberg and Seltzer movie without a Carmen Electra cameo.

Probably going to be a while. The designated mouthpieces are trying to make something out of this, but even the Freepers find this to be stupid. The only people dumb enough to push this shiat were Drudge, Carlson, and Hannity. If it were something big, Limbaugh or Beck would've gotten it.

Depends what the critical derp is. Calling Obama a n-*BONG*? Openly advocating the death of minorities? Blaming the Jewish majority for voting for Obama?

My personal 'go to' non-echo-chamber right-wing forum isn't even commenting on this. They're up in arms over the PA ruling over voter ID.

So far, the only news story here is "if the right thinks this is so bad, why didn't they make an issue of it in 2007/2008, when it was originally reported?"

Way to go "fair and balanced" media.

2012-10-03 02:28:17 AM
I thought Think Progress was right wing rag, but the comments are completely pro Obama. I'm confused.

2012-10-03 02:33:57 AM
Just for the sake of argument, why can't Mr. Obama make "racist" remarks? The Republican spokespeople at party headquarters and Pravda do it all the time. If they think it's OK for them to do it, then if they have any integrity at all, they should be OK with him doing it.

Oops, I see my problem ... I used the word "integrity" in connection with Republicans.

Whitey tape! Whitey tape!

Here's something I was thinking about tonight: for the last 150 years, African Americans have been surpassed by other immigrant groups who have been trained (by one political party or the other) to hate blacks as they become their economic superiors.

At this point in history, because they're no longer actively oppressed, blacks are rising out of poverty and our current biggest immigrant group -Hispanics- identify more with their struggle than with whites (as the Hispanics immigrating to this country are those who were oppressed in their own).

As the GOP's current strategy involved attacking "illegals" and dog-whistle racism, how do they see this all playing out for themselves, long-term?

Terrorist fist-bump, yo!

Man, I can't imagine what the WND and FR crowd is going to do Nov. 7. I'm still worried about election shenanigans, though. The Rovian dirty tricks squads have been trying so hard to suppress voters, and they just got smacked down twice in the past couple days. I feel like we're still waiting for that other shoe to drop.

Drudge bills Obama's 2007 remarks as a "race speech"...

Uh huh. Aaaand?

Do RWers even know that one can talk about race without, you know, being a racist?

Are they aware of this option?

I think it's slightly higher on the scale than that. More like finding peanuts in your poo the day after you eat all the Paydays in your kid's trick or treat bag.

My God, it's full of derp.

GOP, you are all retarded. Anyone who identifies as a Republican these days is either a troll or a complete farkwit.

2012-10-03 02:59:53 AM
I await Mitt Romney's statement of smirkily confused outrage at this...then the statement from the campaign explaining that Mitt's really *extremely* outraged over this, followed by hidden-camera footage of Romney blaming it all on The Decemberists, contradicted by a Romney-talking-directly-into-the-camera ad explaining that he actually meant The Communards, with a press release coming from the campaign two hours later clarifying that his real opinion is that Barack Obama is a Manchurian Kenyan Socialist Puppet of the Bavarian Illuminati.

Then, in an unguarded moment, Mitt's accidental public statement that he always kind of agreed with what Obama originallly said, followed by Paul Ryan facepalming himself so hard his widow's peak turns to male pattern baldness.

Good times.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but the president identifies with one part of his heritage. ONOES!

Americans are going to need to accept we are the great melting pot. We are a multi-ethnic community. I always thought the shared understanding that binds us all together was the ideas that created the USA, not our specific personal attributes, but the humanistic and liberalism of the 18th century. You come to America, you buy into the idea of America, you are an American.

What has been going on since the 1970's with the hate politics, regressive economic thought, and born again Christian fundamentalism is toxic stew which is destroying the ideas which began to free us when America started as an idea. It has been a process, and for a long time became more and more inclusive. Personally, I think the turning point was the failure of the Equal Rights Amendment. Things have stalled from there.

Surprisingly, I think Ronald Reagan would have hated how his ideas and goals have been hijacked.
