Appears about 90% of the bullshiat since 9/11 has been a boondoggle for guys who would otherwise be digging ditches to get a cush 20 yr public safety position, eg with the Department of Homeland Redundancy. Let's not mention their benefits, surveillance privileges, and retirement with COLA's.

Policing our nation back to prosperity --- great idea! Well, for security and security support personnel, that is.

elysive: Do you really want to go out there and say Obama gets criticized for sucking at everything else in his Presidency so we should just shut up? You're not making a very good argument for his reelection here

Nope, not at all, but certain cliche parroting is getting tired and old...

You present the problems in a manner in which is agreeable to me, you aren't frothing off about libruls, and you are actually addressing two sides and showing true neutrality, the previous poster claimed he was against both parties, then went on a rant about democrats and libruls...

I agree with some of his points, I think it would be GREAT if the system was set up to drop the incumbent a lot more frequently than it does... I can't and won't argue that

My problem from the very beginning is that his original argument and post started with a half-assed disclaimer about not being aligned to either party, then spent the next paragraph or so performing a rush limbaugh worth rant about dems and libs and giving a silent nod to reps and cons... Not a believable case for neutrality, or anti-establishment...

I tried pointing out that if you pull the quote he pulled, and looked at that quote only in it's conext, there is NO opinion except the readers. The author did a good job on that paragraph not injecting their own side, not even in a subtle manner. The author clearly states that it was created by one president and upheld by the follow up, it's a fact, and present without opinion or bias.

And I agree with you, the patriot act and iraq were the very reasons i voted against bush after voting for him in 2000, and if there was a GOOD candidate running against Obama this year i would vote against him as well.. because he expanded the patriot act instead of dismantling it, extended tax cuts, approved of a shiatty health plan that made my insurance coverage worse now than it has ever been.

So no, there's nothing wrong with criticizing the president, but he wasn't criticizing the president, he was criticizing the people only on one side of the spectrum while claiming to be of neither...

Really? It doesn't take a modern history scholar to realize the facts. When these programs came into being, the very agencies that give the current administration (NBC in this case) a pass were up in arms about them then. Now that their endorsement is in office however, there is a deafening silence. What happened to all the outrage about these things? It's the same BS we see with the anti-war protesters. Where the hell did all of them go?

Which exactly proves my point. I don't really care who's in office. What I do care about is the duplicity of something being unacceptable with one group of leaders then suddenly tolerable with another. It's hypocritical and it exists across the political spectrum,

First of all... you are the only person projecting this in that statement. The statement in and of itself has no opinion or criticism, that's all you.

Secondly, there is still plenty of outcry, but less since things have started backing down, like pulling troops out of iraq, killing OBL... There's also less outcry over war and more outcry over economy and class issues... not total silence and far from acceptance, you are either not paying attention, ignoring it, or the likely, not noticing it because you are more in tune and alert when people attack or biatch about YOUR political party. You also won't hear RushCo or Fox really talk about "liberals hating on liberals" because they want you to think all liberals are united against conservatives. Liberals are the new Jews, the "Lurking threat to Country and Creed", the new "Source of Evil", and of course liberals are all up in arms and doing stupid crap to perpetuate the situation...

I'm a realist Mr Angry, I don't go looking for the "hidden liberal agenda" in every statement that's written by "mainstream media"

This phrase shows up an awful lot in the news, doesn't it?

You could always vote for a candidate that doesn't want to perpetuate the fail, but that would totally be throwing your vote away.

Where I live, DHS just successfully helped to coordinate a multicounty prostitution bust that netted a bunch of johns picking up streetwalkers.

No mention of how this enhanced homeland security in the press release.

I've got nothing against local law enforcement doing this, but this is not what DHS was created to do. Thats the job of the STATE POLICE.

/If these guys dont have enough to do, CUT THEIR BUDGET.

"...and expanded under President Barack Obama, consist of special teams of federal , state and local officials collecting and analyzing intelligence on suspicious activities throughout the country. They have been hailed by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano as "one of the centerpieces" of the nation's counterterrorism efforts."

Oh, well he cares about us though and I'm sure this would never be abused.

The hypocrisy in the American electorate is absolutely staggering. If something is wrong, it's wrong no matter who's in office. Ethical relativism is going to be our downfall.

Yep, the very idea of referring to the "homeland" in a government agency has given me the creeps since the beginning. When that Dept. was first formed is when I knew we were well and truly farked. The funny thing is that the right-wingers would probably freak out if anyone wanted to disband it, despite their rhetoric about "smaller government."

*ahem*

The DHS is a joke, they do *nothing* useful, they avert no terrist acts, they use their "authority" to basically find out what time of day every Joe Schmo in the USA takes a sh*t and they are useless.

The TSA is worse than useless because they are failed pizza delivery drivers, thieving pricks, schoolyard bullies and pedohiles.

Now go back to enjoying your precious protected freedoms and watch your step, citizen.
