But what if we're in a film? In every film whenever something important goes up before a senate subcommittee it's always run by people on the take, who want to shut down something that's good really, so they twist the facts to make it look bad...

What if indeed.

I went through the nudie scanners at LAX this past weekend and saw that they had moved the scanner results to the backside of the scanning machine. It uses weird shmoo-like body outlines and presents a highlighted box over areas that triggered the scanner.

I feel much safer now.

Appears about 90% of the bullshiat since 9/11 has been a boondoggle for guys who would otherwise be digging ditches to get a cush 20 yr public safety position, eg with the Department of Homeland Redundancy. Let's not mention their benefits, surveillance privileges, and retirement with COLA's.

Policing our nation back to prosperity --- great idea! Well, for security and security support personnel, that is.

*ahem*

The DHS is a joke, they do *nothing* useful, they avert no terrist acts, they use their "authority" to basically find out what time of day every Joe Schmo in the USA takes a sh*t and they are useless.

The TSA is worse than useless because they are failed pizza delivery drivers, thieving pricks, schoolyard bullies and pedohiles.

Now go back to enjoying your precious protected freedoms and watch your step, citizen.

Where I live, DHS just successfully helped to coordinate a multicounty prostitution bust that netted a bunch of johns picking up streetwalkers.

No mention of how this enhanced homeland security in the press release.

I've got nothing against local law enforcement doing this, but this is not what DHS was created to do. Thats the job of the STATE POLICE.

Actually, many conservatives thought/think it was a bad idea.

The problem was originally supposed to be lack of coordination and information sharing between FBI and CIA.

Now its apparently expanded to be "any law enforcement issue that is multijurisdictional"

You KNOW your statement is conjecture. There is NOTHING indicating anything like what you ascribe to, yet there you are doing it.

Looking at the statement AS IT IS WRITTEN:

The " fusion centers," created under President George W. Bush and expanded under President Barack Obama, consist of special teams of federal , state and local officials collecting and analyzing intelligence on suspicious activities throughout the country. They have been hailed by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano as "one of the centerpieces" of the nation's counterterrorism efforts.

Really? It doesn't take a modern history scholar to realize the facts. When these programs came into being, the very agencies that give the current administration (NBC in this case) a pass were up in arms about them then. Now that their endorsement is in office however, there is a deafening silence. What happened to all the outrage about these things? It's the same BS we see with the anti-war protesters. Where the hell did all of them go?

Which exactly proves my point. I don't really care who's in office. What I do care about is the duplicity of something being unacceptable with one group of leaders then suddenly tolerable with another. It's hypocritical and it exists across the political spectrum,

Ha! Rent-seeking.

I'm sure the pitch went something like this:

"Hey, feds! How about helping us shut down these guys who are printing counterfeit playoff tickets? We could lose a lot of money!"

*yawn* "And what's that to us? We fight terrorism, not fraud."

"Well.... it's possible Al Qaeda is trying to cause mass casualties at a high profile public event. It could be terrorists making those tickets, to get a suicide bomber to kill everyone in an entire stadium on live TV."

"OMG. To the fusion center!"

First of all... you are the only person projecting this in that statement. The statement in and of itself has no opinion or criticism, that's all you.

Secondly, there is still plenty of outcry, but less since things have started backing down, like pulling troops out of iraq, killing OBL... There's also less outcry over war and more outcry over economy and class issues... not total silence and far from acceptance, you are either not paying attention, ignoring it, or the likely, not noticing it because you are more in tune and alert when people attack or biatch about YOUR political party. You also won't hear RushCo or Fox really talk about "liberals hating on liberals" because they want you to think all liberals are united against conservatives. Liberals are the new Jews, the "Lurking threat to Country and Creed", the new "Source of Evil", and of course liberals are all up in arms and doing stupid crap to perpetuate the situation...

I'm a realist Mr Angry, I don't go looking for the "hidden liberal agenda" in every statement that's written by "mainstream media"
