Osomatic: /I'm not bitter/Go to hell, fish eaters
CorpusDelicti: Fark the veto d**che, they're coincidentely one of the first ones to go when the company makes cost-cutting measures anyway.
halB: I only eat sea food if I'm within 20 miles of an active port. And if I'm there, I sure as hell ain't eating at Red Lobster. When you've spent your whole life by the ocean, frozen just won't cut it.
kxs401: I veto Red Lobster because I do like sea food.
katerbug72: Ambivalence: How can someone NOT like seafood. That's like saying you don't like cheese. Even the lactose intolerant love cheese.I don't care for most seafood, especially the funky stuff. I didn't grow up eating it (my mom hated the stuff) so I don't have much of a taste for it.
Kuroshin: Next time I'm forced to eat there, I'm sticking to biscuits and nothing else. At least those heat-and-serve hockey pucks are edible.
Bill_Wick's_Friend: Red Lobster has the highest good-looking-food-in-ads to crappy-food-irl ratio of any restaurant. Their food is greasy bland salty shiat but their tv ads look oh so yummy and always have.
2words1finger: Screw all you haters, I loves me some Red Lobster... and if any of you jackholes can find some other readily available place where I can get a steaming platter of crab legs without being gouged on the price, I'd love to know about it (and no, Joe's Crab Shack does not count, their prices are worse than RL and their atmosphere is farking annoying)
GAT_00: Bathia_Mapes: Richard Saunders: Bathia_Mapes:That wouldn't work for me since I'm allergic to Benadryl. Interesting. I've never met anyone with this challenge.Do you have any problems with things like Zantac, Pepcid, etc.?I don't know since I've never taken any of those. I am allergic to several other allergy medicines as well, such as Claritin. So you get allergic reactions to allergy medicines? That's a new one to me, and I've got a bit of weird chemistry myself. I know I can get a really strong caffeine-like buzz off of Benadryl. I'm also one of few people who have found that Zyrtec is in fact addictive to some people, despite all the refusal of that company to acknowledge that. I gave it up completely because if I didn't take it every day, I'd get incredibly itchy everywhere until I took another dose. Usually hit right around 48 hours after the last dose. And I know my mother can take one of the really powerful painkillers, I can't remember which one, and it's a pure stimulant.
RexTalionis: Okay, let me rephrase. I am largely indifferent to the taste of cheese. As far as tastes go, it's not that interesting.
Osomatic: Great, so now you can drag your friend who is, say, incredibly allergic to shellfish, and doesn't particularly like much fish either, to a restaurant that reeks of old fish. I'm sure your friend will appreciate it. I bet he'll like it as much as when he's dragged to sushi where if he's lucky he can get a bowl of rice with some dry chicken "teriyaki" and then when the bill comes for $500 of sushi all his friends say "let's just split it!"/I'm not bitter/Go to hell, fish eaters
laid back w/bud light: kimmygibblershomeworkSo you expect me to take advice on seafood from someone living 2 thousand miles from a saltwater fish? GFY, talk to me when your family has 50 years of living off the sea. Michigan is what? a hotbed for icefishing? You send me some walleye fillets, I'll send you some striper fillets
kroonermanblack: Red Lobster and Olive Garden fall into the same category as Chilis, Applebees, Subway, and several other places for me. I don't hate them, but I don't seek them out, either. They're tolerable for lunch at work when you can get a cheapo meal, or when I'm visiting the parents in small-town Texas and the options are 1-20 Mass chains and we feel like going to the Italian veneer one instead of the other veneer ones. It's not like we're fooled by the amazing quality of the meal. Olive Garden soup salad and breadsticks for like 7 bucks is great. Red Lobster, I've never found much on there I like, but my choice would be 'fish' and 'fish' at RL is 20$ a farking plate and I'm not paying that for what I could go to Sams and buy a bag of for less.Anyone recommend a good seafood join in Dallas that's reasonably priced? I don't care if it's a dive or what, just good food. It's way far from a port so not sure, but it's Dallas.
laid back w/bud light: If you like RL you have no taste in seafood. It's the only restaurant I've ever walked out on after the appetizer because I was about to hurl. Mind you my family grew up on Cape Cod and were commercial fisherman so I was privy to the freshest fish, lobster, and clams year long. I still get fish and quahogs 7 months of the year. Lobster I could care less about versus shrimp. If your seafood has a slightly strong smell or taste it's old or frozen first. Never buy cooked shrimp it's nasty, buy larger uncooked shrimp and ask to smell them. Marinate and grill them with a nice strip steak on the side. Feel lucky to have access to free fish, lobster, and shellfish, but keep your hands away from my baked stuffed clams and codfish cakes.
TsukasaK: So am I the only non-foodie person who actually happens to *like* Red Lobster? The food is tasty.
GAT_00: Bathia_Mapes: WhippingBoy: Allergies are God's way of attempting to correct some of his mistakes...Well, he's doing a damned poor job of it then. I've made it to 60 with a few stumbles along the way.I wonder what it means when a food allergy fades then.
CaptSS: Osomatic: Ambivalence: How can someone NOT like seafood. That's like saying you don't like cheese. Even the lactose intolerant love cheese.I can't handle even the slightest whiff of fishy-tasting. Tuna in a can I can usually do. And I once had some monkfish that was quite delicious. But for the most part, blechhhhhh. I hate even just being inside seafood restaurants because of the smell. You are my evil twin. I can handle canned tuna, but anything else is just nasty. And yes, I have tried different types of seafood. Even tried cooking salmon at home..... never again.
Farnn: halB: I only eat sea food if I'm within 20 miles of an active port. And if I'm there, I sure as hell ain't eating at Red Lobster. When you've spent your whole life by the ocean, frozen just won't cut it.Actually a lot of fish is frozen on the boat, as they don't come back to port every day to sell their catch. So much of what you see laying out on ice at fish markets has actually been defrosted already.
Fuggin Bizzy: When asked about the risks involved making such a dramatic change to the menu, Clarence Otis, CEO at Darden, which also owns Olive Garden, says: "the biggest risk would be to not change."That's deep, Clarence. You know what the purpose of life is? A life of purpose.
RexTalionis: Ambivalence: How can someone NOT like seafood. That's like saying you don't like cheese. Even the lactose intolerant love cheese.I don't like cheese. I'm also lactose intolerant.
GAT_00: You go to Red Lobster only once per year, and that's for Endless Shrimp. Glorious gluttony.
Bathia_Mapes: Say what you will about Red Lobster. They're by no means great cuisine (the same company owns Olive Garden)...
Bathia_Mapes: Richard Saunders: Bathia_Mapes:That wouldn't work for me since I'm allergic to Benadryl. Interesting.
