Great, so now you can drag your friend who is, say, incredibly allergic to shellfish, and doesn't particularly like much fish either, to a restaurant that reeks of old fish. I'm sure your friend will appreciate it. I bet he'll like it as much as when he's dragged to sushi where if he's lucky he can get a bowl of rice with some dry chicken "teriyaki" and then when the bill comes for $500 of sushi all his friends say "let's just split it!"

Ambivalence: How can someone NOT like seafood. That's like saying you don't like cheese. Even the lactose intolerant love cheese.

I can't handle even the slightest whiff of fishy-tasting. Tuna in a can I can usually do. And I once had some monkfish that was quite delicious. But for the most part, blechhhhhh. I hate even just being inside seafood restaurants because of the smell.

I don't know since I've never taken any of those. I am allergic to several other allergy medicines as well, such as Claritin.

So you get allergic reactions to allergy medicines? That's a new one to me, and I've got a bit of weird chemistry myself. I know I can get a really strong caffeine-like buzz off of Benadryl. I'm also one of few people who have found that Zyrtec is in fact addictive to some people, despite all the refusal of that company to acknowledge that. I gave it up completely because if I didn't take it every day, I'd get incredibly itchy everywhere until I took another dose. Usually hit right around 48 hours after the last dose. And I know my mother can take one of the really powerful painkillers, I can't remember which one, and it's a pure stimulant.

I have a couple of friends with weird allergies or food intolerances.

One loves to fish, but can't touch fish or he'll end up covered in a rash from head to toe. Obviously he can't eat fish either.

Another friend, while not allergic to fish or shellfish, cannot digest beef, pork, mutton/lamb, venison or any other variety of meat from hooved animals. She's had this problem since early childhood. She can, however, eat poultry (chicken, turkey, duck, etc.), fish & shellfish.

I only eat sea food if I'm within 20 miles of an active port. And if I'm there, I sure as hell ain't eating at Red Lobster. When you've spent your whole life by the ocean, frozen just won't cut it.

Also, there are a lot of you who have some shiatty genes. Not having allergies, I can't even imagine what garbage you all must go through.

You are my evil twin. I can handle canned tuna, but anything else is just nasty. And yes, I have tried different types of seafood. Even tried cooking salmon at home..... never again.
