Dunder Mifflined in the warehouse with a pallet of paper?

Damn, one box of paper is pretty heavy (~55lb/box for 22 bond paper by my maths) I can imagine that a whole shelving unit full of 4x4 pallets stacked about 4 high would crush your arse.

At the manufacturing plant I used to work at, some dumbass thought he'd look tough by punching his frustrations out on a roll of packing paper. He was strong enough to break bone in one hit, so I guess that's pretty tough.

I worked with a guy who kicked his department's pumpkin (jack-o-lantern contest, not yet carved) wearing steel toed boots and broke his foot. He was having an argument with his supervisor and said something along the lines of "If this were your head....".
Best part, he tried to get workers comp. Didn't get fired though.

In college we had a punching pad that was about 150 pieces of paper and a leather pad. But we all understood not to hit that thing with full power, no one broke anything.

It does have an eclectic collection of knuckle skin though.

Rufus Lee King: All this "clever" banter aside, the FARK headline is making fun of someone being crushed to death.

Any website like that, well, its got problems.

I take it you've never seen any of the RIP threads...or Darwin threads...or seen the Florida tag...

Its always bothered me.

Someone's father/son/brother/wife/et cetera getting killed horribly, and FARK people have a thread making fun of it?

Yeah, problem. Not mine; theirs.

Jokes are also how some people deal with grief or help others deal with grief. It's pretty clear that you don't, but that doesn't make either of the responses wrong. There are also those who are simply looking to have a good time and don't really care about the gravity of the story, and that's just fine. Not everyone needs to be stressed over each sad news story. I guess what I'm getting at is the only way you can change this issue is by changing your own perception of it. It's not going to be solved to your current liking, but perhaps you can come to an acceptable understanding instead.

Kif, we have a conundrum. Search them for paper. And bring me a rock.

2012-10-03 03:21:29 AM
I used to work in a plant that made household paper products (napkins, paper towels, toilet paper and facial tissue). The rolls that come out of the machines are huge. They're about fifty feet wide and wrapped around a steel roll that weighs a few tons by itself. When a crane carries one of those rolls to a slitter I was always careful not to get under one, and not just because of the safety rules. I always figured that would be a terrible obituary - but one that Fark would love:

Crushed to death by a roll of toilet paper.

Had a photo lab some years back, as a business. Had to produce pictures of a paper-roll accident for a court case. Initially laughed as the lawyer handed me the envelope and said something along the lines of "did wittle ugums get a papercut?"
He is a friend who nicely said "you might wanna wait to do these prints if you just ate".
Found out is was one of these:
encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com

Friend was right to warn me. I nearly pooted lunch after seeing what happens to the human form when run over by a few thousand pounds of tightly wrapped newspaper. Fark, it was horrible.

Industrial paper accidents yield more injury and death every year than airguns over a decade. When will the CPSC ban paper?
