Do they charge you extra if you're sitting in a coach seat and it slides into first class?

2012-10-02 06:01:27 PM
Do not be alarmed. This has nothing whatsoever to do with the unions.

Good headline subby. Well played...

This is a wonderful story to read just as my mother is getting on an American Airlines plane...in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Yeah, but without Michael Huerta shuffling executives around to protect them and silencing whistleblowers.

Loose seats on plane still preferred to loose stools.

This is what happens when you have billions in the bank yet declare bankruptcy anyways to screw you workers. During the screw job you layoff thousands of mechanics and have your planes start being maintained in China.

Is anyone surprised at all that the planes, and operation, are falling apart? Nothing to do with unions or employees, it all has to do with the fact that management is making millions by squeezing every last drop out of the company at the company, employee, and customer's expense.

Unions? TSA?

You farkers know that Delta and other US airlines outsource the major C and D checks to China? Been happening for a while.

Bottom's up.

2012-10-02 06:22:01 PM
Everybody should pick choose their seats when boarding.

Management sure is doing a good job of villifying its employees in the media though. I can't believe fellow hard working americans look at a situation like this and say "screw you" to the employees... pilots and mechanics... because American Airlines can't function. You're siding with the selfish managers who are destroying this country from the inside out. What happened to sticking up for your fellow man?

American is so bad. Took a AA flight to Europe and plane looked worn down, and although the cabin crew was nice, they had no problem complaining about their work situation within earshot of the passengers. At least my flight left on time.

Also the amenities were skimpy.

I used to live in the Caribbean, and you can't avoid AA there and if you try you ended up on LIAT, which made American Eagle seem well run. I would pay a couple of hundred extra and fly through Atlanta to get to Florida to avoid American.

Headline of the eon.

Works at DFW, gettin' a kick, ect....

Of course, the union is blaming AA outsourcing for the bolts not being tightened, AA is "investigating", and more and more planes are delayed/canceled at departure time.

(Not)CSB.....a flight out of BOS was delayed because the pilot had read in a manual somewhere that if a bomb is found on the aircraft, one thing they could do would be to cover it up with all the blankets on the aircraft in order to minimize the damage. A/C only had 12 on board, was supposed to have 22. Pilot waited 45 minutes at the gate for the other 10 blankets citing "safety" /CSB(Not)

Dear American Airlines,

"Faulty" is not the same as "improperly installed." Use of the word, "faulty", implies that blame falls on the manufacturer of the clamp - that, somehow, the clamp itself is at fault or defective in some way. Instead, your technicians improperly installed otherwise hale and useful clamps. I say "your technicians" because when you state "that the issue "does not seem to be tied to any one maintenance facility or one workgroup," well, that's business-speak for "we have no one but ourselves to blame, and we don't want to do that, so blame distributed is blame diffused" and it's pretty clear that it's AA's fault this happened.

In the future, please do your God-damned jobs.

Thanks,
Your customers

They are, but only plastic wrenches, with handles less than 3 inches in length can go onboard.

Last time I saw something like this happen it was because of stupid supervisors.
Faulty procedure was published and sent out. Mechanics knew it was bullchit, but supers were Lit and Soc majors that could not grasp the dealeo.
So,,,

/no offence Lit and Soc majors, point is wrong warm body hired cheaply by criminally cheapo management
//you mean supervisors need to know the work? nnaaa, any warm body will do

"The clamps were used on only 47 of our 102 Boeing 757 airplanes."

Whew, that's a relief. Seats may come loose on just 46% of AA's 757s. That's less than half!

All so the executives get a huge bonus mind you.

The smart thing for both shareholders, for workers, and for the company would be the merger with United that was floated around. Problem being there excutive management would almost all be let go.

And you're the reason why people get excited when they get any more service from an airline than getting there and back in one piece.

But your ticket was cheap so its all good right??

/Isn't that the American way now? Screw the American worker out a decent living wage, offer no benefits, and keep raising the price on items until nobody can afford to buy them anymore, or are forced to buy from an outside country. Same old story.

It WAS cheap! I never fly and can't afford a vacation, American Airlines/West Jet offered the cheapest direct flight. Maybe it will be a West Jet plane? (Canada to US flight.)

But to be honest, sitting on the floor would be more comfortable than most coach seats nowadays. Maybe they should just chuck any loose seats out the ass-end doors when they find them.
