I think that they will both have their debate soundbites for their supporters, but Romney needs some kind of Kennedy-like unshaved-Nixon boost from the debate, which is unlikely.

If you were the leader of the free world, with a nation to tend to, a campaign to run, and a family to raise: would you want to spend hours being coached on how to answer questions that make your opponent look bad, but not so bad as you'd be accused of "playing rough?"

I wonder who they found that was stiff and lifeless enough to play Romney for the debate prep.

Enough!

I'm sick of this crap.

We need to talk about the important things affecting this great nation.

For instance.

There is no way this debate goes well for Romney. The absolute best that he can hope for is a mediocre performance without any major blunders. However, given his track record, that might just be hoping for too much.

Romney actually dropped an excuse already. I'm sure that threw the derp brigade into a tantrum so they had to make something up and lash out at Obama.

In other words, S.O.P.

the comments brought up the gasoline price bullsh*t. Gas hit $4 when Bush was in office and yes, it did plummet in '09 and then went back up. How quickly they forget gas has been high for years and years and years.

but they just focus on that tiny little dip in price. almost makes me want to put on a tinfoil hat.

put they just focus on the facts that fit their narrative. And yeah, Romney is going to lower prices for you. He cares about us. Corporations making huge profits ain't his thing.

John Kerry. No, not a joke, he was actually picked because he's an out-of-touch rich dude from Massachusetts with no idea how to handle economic policy who thinks that yacht racing is a totally accessible sport.

Albeit I imagine that's not how they phrased it to his face.

Well, to be honest debate prep is a more work and is a lot less fun than zinger practice and it's not like the man doesn't have things to do and stuff.

At the end of the day someone has to take this stuff seriously and Mitt obviously aint gonna be that guy.

Being a grown up is tough some days.

Yesterday I submitted an article (that didn't get greenlit) about this. Apparently a Tea Party/GOP super Pac hosted an event in Michigan where a gas station was selling gas for $1.84, to "simulate" the economy on the day of Obama's inauguration. They conveniently forgot to simulate multiple bank failures, losing 300,000+ jobs/month, and a DJIA of below 7,000.

The gas price talking point is by far the Republicans' worst one (and that's saying something). It amazes me they still have the balls to bring that one back out.

That's amusing because gasoline went from $3.98 yesterday to $3.69 this morning where I live.

What amazes me is that people think that Obama has any control over the price of gasoline, save for releasing oil from the strategic reserve. Couldn't have anything at all to do with the major conglomerates that produce the oil and gasoline soaking up massive corporate profits every single day and then begging for even more tax cuts because $40 billion a quarter just isn't enough money to line their overly fat pants with.

Good idea. Does that actually work, though?

I was driving the interstate the other day and saw a gas station with $2.12 on the marquee...it piqued my interest of course...got closer to see the place was out of business. It was like a snap shot in time.

In addition, that chart is not corrected for inflation. The $4.12 peak gas price under Bush would be about $4.50 today. We have not even hit that yet.

The parallels between Kerry and Romney are amazing. My favorite: The left's biggest criticism against Bush was the Iraq War. So they nominated a guy who voted for the Iraq War. The right's biggest criticism against Obama is ACA. So they nominated a guy who passed an identical program as a governor. It's freaky.

Isn't it, though? And Kerry's the perfect Mitt substitute. Hell, he was senator from Mass. while Mitt was governor. The only thing that hasn't been clear is whether Kerry realized how ironic it was that he was being asked to play Romney.

Its almost like the party structures don't give a damn about what their respective constituents want, and are working together towards some other purpose.

Obama should be able to unsettle Romney without playing rough. He's probably going to take the high road unless Romney fires first.

You're hopeless.

2012-10-02 01:41:00 PM
Obama's debate prep probably is indeed boring. It probably mostly consists of familiarizing himself with Romney's past statements and record. Obama's best defense against anything that Romney says on any topic is going to be what Romney said about that in the past. Whatever the issue is Romney was for it before he was against it, or whatever. Gay rights, health care, gun control, taxes, people that don't pay income tax, the troops, war, Romney's spending in MA, Romney has flipped and flopped providing plenty of quotes and ammunition. Obama has to study up on all that, it's a drag.

2012-10-02 01:42:36 PM
I'm really looking forward to the debate tomorrow night.

Here are the topics broken down by time allotted of the 90 minute debate:

Economy - 45 minutes
Health Care - 15 minutes
Role of Government - 15 minutes
Governing - 15 minutes
