That is cute. The movie studio has got to love the free publicity.

Other threads include "Does Alexander Rhodes have literally the biggest penis ever?"

...aaand Alexander Rhodes just might be submitting some of those Reddit threads himself.

Yeah, first billed on IMDB. Yeah, it's cute, but it's not like he's on the movie poster or anything.

I just wonder how Tom and the Scientologists are handling this. Tom, though he can be rather cool at times, is a very intense egomaniac. During those times he's being cool, it's simply a calculated series of events to seem cool, but this is gonna make his head explode. Outwardly he'll say he thinks it's neat, but inwardly, they are amassing an army of Sea Org'ers at computers to grab and release IP's while clicking on his IMDB link to move him back to number 1.

Were he really cool, and the Studio had a sense of humor, they'd put him on the movie posters, but I'm sure they've already been printed, so it won't happen.

Well, if there's one thing that won't bother Tom Cruise, it's having another guy over the top of him.

I love how full of itself the internet is.

I clicked the link "how reddit made some jerkoff more famous than Tom Cruise"

What an idiotic headline. No, they didn't. This is the first I've heard of this. This is the first anyone has heard of this.
Tom Cruise has been a movie star since the 80's. Whoever that guy is in the picture, is nowhere near as famous as Bobcat Goldthwaite, let alone a top billing actor like Tom Cruise.

Yes. IMDB can put the cast however they like (and they often do, up to and including people who've never even touched a certain movie as "rumored" or "uncredited"). Doesn't change who's actually first billed.

I'll pile on. I just don't think this kind of thing is very funny, or entertaining, or whatever. I don't care if the internet decides that Tan Mom is the meme of the day, or that Reddit made the guy with hair coming out of his ears famous for a day. I thought it was mildly amusing what the internet did with "Santorum" but that's about it. Most of this crap is just the internet, uh, like,.......well fark it, Peter take over.

IMDB bases their cast list (until the production company or agents rearrange it themselves) purely by listing the most popular actor or actress first, and then in order from there. This guy posted a thread on reddit about being an extra on a movie, and when reddit realized that IMDB popularity = profile views, they got huge crews to refresh the shiat out of the guys page until he had more views than Tom Cruise.

So... yeah, reddit did have something to do with it. It was on the front page 3 days in a row.

Yeah, no. Like I said, this is something I've seen a lot lately on IMDB. It usually takes a few days for the site to correct, but it happens.
Just recently, I went to check IMDB to find the name of the lead actress in the new series Mob Doctor. The first name listed in the cast list was an extra who played a doctor in the hospital. The lead actress wasn't even listed at all. A few days later, it was fixed, and Jordana Spiro is there at the top of the list.
It's not unusual, it has nothing to do with reddit or FARK or Google. It's a glitch in IMDB.

Of course, the problem is, IMDb gets used as a reference about as often as Wikipedia does. Thus, when a mistake is made on IMDb, it usually gets passed along. Kinda like a "copyright trap" on a map.

It may glitch sometimes, but that doesn't change documented evidence of tons of redditers taking screen grabs as his name moves from bottom of the list to top while they all post instruction how to set up auto refresh. And purely to make the day of a guy that's struggling and taking acting jobs.

I'm not saying its notable, but save your "Haha, I'll ignore the facts and make up my own" shiat for a politics discussion.
