This guy's web bio is hilarious, including the phrase,"and even performed at Dollywood". The GOP has zero chance in this district, so their candidate is usually a moron.

Well, the good news is that the Republican Party is becoming more representative of its base.

Peter von Nostrand: He was just joking. Why can't you libs take a joke?

It's not as if he posted the pic of him and his buddies in their white robes holding a noose or anything - sheesh.

What goes through the brain that says: "This is a good idea!"?

If I judge purely by the articles linked on Fark, I would have to say that the primary purpose of Facebook is to allow idiots to identify themselves as such to the general population.

So what's wrong with that? He didn't threaten the president. Maybe he just wanted to show Fartbongo his cool gun.

If NoBama came to visit me, I'd certianly show him my collection. I'm quite proud of it. Especially since I was able to aquire many of my pieces despite that B-Rock the Islamic Shock had farked the economy.

I've tried to excise the word "retard" from my vocabulary but if FB has taught me anything, the only people willing to openly admit that they're still Republicans are functionally retarded and/or racist.

/also all of my exes are narcissists.

Apparently Tennesseans are part of that crazy crowd that Obama says 'cling to (their) religion and guns.'

Not all Tennesseans. Just something like 25% in Nashville rising to 45% in Murfreesboro 60% among Knoxvllians, and a whopping 85% in Johnson City.

No, see, in the movies they hold handguns sideways to be cool, and in Tennessee they just are 90 degrees cooler.

The derp meter will go past 11 if TN actually manages to end up going for Obama. Apparently he's running neck and neck with Romney there.

MythDragon: So what's wrong with that? He didn't threaten the president. Maybe he just wanted to show Fartbongo his cool gun.

This. Maybe he wanted to demonstrate the relative security of a state where responsible gun ownership is regularly practiced. Seems the problem is in the reaction rather than the display.

"What?! There's a firearm in Tennessee?! Loose the S.S. hounds! These people must be brought under the web of government dominance/ dependence."

THREAD. OVER.

2012-10-02 11:46:51 AM
FTA: "So the Tennessean took one of my posts and called it a threat to Barack Obama, which was completely taken out of context. My post from Friday was regarding the fact that the UN Small Arms Treaty, passed last week will undermine our Second Amendment Rights."

So in other words, he's just a farking retard.

The UN Small Arms Treaty would have and has zero, nada, no bearing on US constitutional right to own and possess a firearm legally. From Snopes: "The Arms Trade Treaty has nothing to do with restricting the legal sale or ownership of guns within the United States. The aim of the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty is to combat the illicit international trade of arms by "tightening regulation of, and setting international standards for, the import, export and transfer of conventional weapons" in order to "close gaps in existing regional and national arms export control systems that allow weapons to pass onto the illicit market." The text of the proposed treaty specifically "reaffirms the sovereign right and responsibility of any State to regulate and control transfers of conventional arms that take place exclusively within its territory, pursuant to its own legal or constitutional systems," so even if such a treaty came to pass, U.S. rights and laws regarding the sale and ownership of small arms would still apply within the United States."

All it takes is a simple bit of Googling to find this out. THIS is the kind of derp that has me voting entirely Democrat this election. The deliberate and flagrant spreading of misinformation and sheer paranoid lunacy. If you don't want to take Snopes, just look up "REID V COVERT" at which ever legal info site you care to view.

Up late with a bottle... and his handgun. While he was thinking of the President.

Yes. Totally innocent.

I think the Likers have to bear some of the responsibility as well. Too many times on Facebook does something get Liked and the original context is lost.

We never had this type of thing happen on MySpace.

Just another day in Farkland.

Other than in his explanation, he showed a fundamental lack of understanding of the gun laws he was talking about. Or if he did understand he was pandering.

It's not the picture of the gun alone. It's the gun, along with "Welome to Tennessee, Obama." If you can't see the violence/rabble rousing that is implied by doing that, than you are an imbecile, or just another troll who is really trying too hard.

I don't see the problem here...there's no threat, just a fair warning. Be prepared, brush-head!

A Colt 911.

COLT 911.

Better than a Glock 19mm revolver I suppose.

Just so I'm clear, does gun ownership immediately make you a zealot and imply you're clinging to your guns and religion or is that just yet another broad generalization that doesn't really portray reality that we sling around to stir the pot and polarize the voting public?

To be fair, I wasn't that bothered that they used targets on the map. To "target" something is a common idiom, and crosshairs are a common way of indicating that. No, what was so sad about that was that, rather than say "in light of recent events, it was an unfortunate choice of symbol, but it is a commonly used symbol that was obviously not meant as a threat" they instead tried the whole "surveyor's mark!" stuff. It was like a five year old who had been caught doing something wrong and couldn't come up with a decent lie.

It was sad.

he's so maveriky that he shoots it upside down. That way he doesn't need to compensate for so much drop.

No one tells a maverick he can't do what he wants. Except for the Secret Service that is.

If you think the derp squad is active now, they're not. A lot of them still think all the presidential polls are skewed and Mittens is actually going to take the show. When those votes come in and the realization of another 4 years of Obama sets on them, it's going to get pretty interesting. I predict at least 5 hilariously inept home grown terror plots taken down by the FBI, 2 groups of less than 50 people declaring themselves a sovereign nation on some crappy brush land somewhere in flyover country, 3 violent protest with racist overtones, and 1 really scary homegrown terror plot.

And millions of words of impotent, violent rhetoric spewed by losers on Freep.

I sometimes think the Republican party is just some elaborate satire.

Although sometimes I think I'd vote for Sarah Palin out of morbid curiosity.

2012-10-02 12:56:11 PM
Farking hell. It gets harder and harder to defend being from this state. And Jim Cooper, the incumbent he's running against, is about as conservative a Democrat as you'd run across in a month of Sundays.
