I don't know, but I heard the Mets just signed Rick Vaughn.

What if a pitch from Dickey sails and drills him again? Or will he just get batting practice fastballs?

2012-10-02 11:40:43 AM
good luck against Cy Dickey.

Against RA Dickey? YEa, thanks a lot *rolls eyes*...

At least Dickey isn't a high heat throwing type of guy, but it will almost certainly be a K

Dickey's a bit high on HBP, but nothing extremely unusual.

on the bright side, the odds of being hit in the head with a fastball are pretty low when facing Dickey.

He got beaned by a Marlins pitcher in the first place. Considering they're a mile out from contention, not a terrible idea for the Marlins to be the one to give him his at bat. I think the Cubs weren't interested because they didn't have a spot on the 40-man roster, so they'd have potentially lost someone in order to add this guy.

I read that as "Alan Greenspan."

probably. Even Dickey's fastball is about 70 mph :)

Since it looks like he's going to only pinch hit, it might not be Dickey.

It will be interesting to see how Ozzie uses him. Something moderately trollish I hope.

I think MLB granted a one-day contract type of situation for him. Essentially they can have him for this one shot without having to drop anyone from the 40 man.

Actually his fastball is low 80's, his knuckleball is regularly high 70's, often even 80's.

It doesn't hurt, might be a little sore the next day depending on where it hits but nothing too awful.

I loved this idea at first, but he'll be expecting it, so here's your option:
1. Intentionally walk him. No official at bat
2. drag his parents out of the stands and club them to death while he watches from first base

2012-10-02 12:14:07 PM
They should intentionally walk him....

I was at Marlins Park this past Friday and Saturday night. 30,000+ in announced attendance for both games.

And there were only a few Phillies fans there. Majority were Marlins fans, as it should be.

When Guillen puts him in, Collins should go to his pen for the hardest-throwing lefty neanderthal he can find and tell him to bust him inside all at-bat.

ISubmittedThisYesterdayWithAMuchFunnierHeadline: When Guillen puts him in, Collins should go to his pen for the hardest-throwing lefty neanderthal he can find and tell him to bust him inside all at-bat.

Sadly the Mets pen has no one even close to Dickey, save Parnell on a good day - and you can never tell when he's going to have a bad one.

Seriously, after Dickey's last win, Collins better be leaving him in there as long as he has a lead.

2012-10-02 02:03:06 PM
I want this guy to either hit one out of the park on the first pitch, or line a come-backer to Dickey's dome and spread the wealth a little.
Go Yankees!
