(The Daily Show)   Jon Stewart, that noted left-wing leader of the lamestream media, continues to do everything he can to make Republicans look bad. Wait, this just in...(touches earpiece)...he was critical of Obama? Over a serious issue?   (thedailyshow.com) divider line 128

Uh, yeah. He does that quite a bit. Why is this news?

Or is this just the first time that subby has ever noticed it?

2012-10-02 08:06:51 AM
Submitter is a moron if he thinks this is bizarre.

2012-10-02 08:09:20 AM
The only reason it seems like that meanie Jon Stewart picks on the conservatives more is because they do more stupid shiat. Why would someone think he'd put personal politics ahead of comedy? He has a show to run, persecutioncomplexmitter.

2012-10-02 08:17:24 AM
Hardly the first time he's done that.

2012-10-02 08:35:47 AM
I'm pretty sure there's a variation on this headline every time he does this.

2012-10-02 08:38:28 AM
The only thing Subby knows about Jon Stewart is what he hears on Fox.

2012-10-02 09:06:22 AM
Hard-core conservatives aren't going to change their tune about how much Stewart is a sycophant for Obama.

2012-10-02 09:08:15 AM
Yeah, this isn't news subs. Stewart is good about criticizing stupid shiat no matter who says or does it.

It's just that there is usually a crapload of stupidity coming out of the GOP most of the time, so it might seem that they're being picked on a lot by the media. But really, if they would stop eating dirt and rubbing shiat in their hair, the media might leave them alone.

SilentStrider: Hardly the first time he's done that.

As a regular viewer I can confirm that he criticizes Obama almost daily with a very biting criticism at least once a week. His criticisms are genuine and credible however not like the stupid shiat Fox comes up with.

If the Romney campaign had been studying Stewart's show for the past couple of years they could have hadf a much more effective campaign against Obama and even be leading in the polls now. It would have been super easy to paint Obama as Dubya II and for Romney to distance himself from Dubya as a true Fiscal Conservative. So easy.

2012-10-02 09:20:55 AM
This surprises whom?

Both TDS and Colbert ripped on the DNC convention, also (just about as much as the GOP convention).

NOBODY IS SAFE

This is what makes the current state of journalism so pathetic. A F*CKING COMEDIAN does a better job at journalism than "journalists."

Except that journalists have to abide by certain standards and Stewart and Colbert and the like do not. I've seen my share of Daily Show / Colbert Report stuff that played loose with the actual facts of the matter, but they spun it in a funny way, so who really cares.

What standards are those? They're so busy chasing the outrage du jour that they purposely ignore actual news and give up on investigating. All for the sake of ratings. Look at the Sherry Sherrod debacle. Breitbart posts an edited video, FoxNews runs it, and CNN follows right after, without even checking any facts. Next thing we know, she's being asked for her resignation and it's 2 days before anyone bothers to uncover the fact that the original video was doctored and the story itself was a lie.

JoHn Stewart taking Obama (or indeed ANY Liberal) to task for anything constitutes a Libfact™. The Truth™ is that, like ALL Liberals, he slurps the schlong of the Most Merciful One.

He didn't make it look like a reason for impeachment, so he's just another member of the liberal media.

Republicans have the market cornered on whining.

2012-10-02 09:55:52 AM
the left should really learn from the mistakes of the right. Not only is it ok to criticize the party/politicians you generally support, it's necessary.

See the bubble the GOP has created for themselves for an example of what happens if you don't understand this concept.

/oh, and yeah Stewart does this all the time, he's mocks BS regardless of party.
//Stewart/Colbert hit harder than any 24/7 news channel going, and that's pathetic.

actually all he criticized them on was not communicating with each other.
he was actually supportive of their not jumping the gun on calling it a terrorist act out of the gate.

Seems to me with most media, the rule is 'always take Republicans at their word'. Even on NPR.

2012-10-02 09:58:12 AM
But Stewart played a clip of Bill O'Reilly admitting he wears ballet shoes. So it's OK, he's still in the tank.

It really is a statement on how thin skinned the Right are. The Daily Show goes often goes after The Obama Administration. To anyone who watches the show Subby is like Rick Ramono to them.

2012-10-02 09:59:09 AM
To be honest I find it a bit gay that the only good thing he has to say about Romney and Ryan is that they're handsome when clearly they're far from it.

Could be wrong but I think Subby was making fun of RWers who insist that JS never takes the Dems to task for anything.

It's still early, my first cuppa coffee was weak and my snark detector is in the shop for maintenance but I'm pretty sure that's what he/she was going for.

But what with Poe and all it *is* kinda hard to ascertain for sure.

The other day Jon did a bit where he opened with an Obama gaffe and said how ordinarily this might matter in a close election but... and then he lead into the segment that explained why Obama was "the luckiest man in the world" by highlighting a series of blunders by Mitt.

Jon's a comic at heart and the current crop of Republicans led (using that word in it's broadest possible context here) by Mitt Romney simply give him more material to work with.

no... I mean the argument about whether this was an act of terrorism or not. It is by definition, amirite? And why Obama didn't use his magic mind-reading machine to stop it.

there was another one last week who after he was told he was fired killed the owner of the company and 4 others before shooting himself. it was pretty much buried by the national press
