$0.50 + StubHub fees

It's okay Cubs' fans. They're still proving that everything really is bigger in Texas. The Astros' futility is part of that.

Last year there were plenty of times that upper deck astros tckets went for $0.10

I don't know why anyone is surprised. The Cubs were very clear all year that this was a rebuilding season. Next year will probably look very similar - maybe a little better, since they have an idea of what the minor league kids can do now they don't necessarily HAVE to play them all next year.

The new regime has a systematic way of evaluating, drafting, and developing talent. They just started drafting, so I don't expect to see "their team" for a few years at least, and even then it will be a young team.

I expect the Cubs to start contending around 2017-2018, and after that, I expect a perennial contender.

Side note: how the fark are the Astros going to compete in the AL next year?

We'll see who they pick up for a DH, but even then... they're gonna be very familiar with the basement of that AL West.

This. Most of their "Top Prospect" list has an ETA of 2014 and beyond. They suck now and are not getting better anytime soon.

About as well as they have been in the National League this year.

Today's Cubs-Astros game is the first time two 100-loss teams have faced each other in 50 years. 1962, Mets vs........ Cubs, of course.

I get the sarcasm, but why wouldn't it happen? Do you know much about the inner workings of the front office and how horribly out of date it has been for years?

Anyone who has really followed the Cubs as an operation knows that it's been a story of disinterested ownership and archaic scouting and developing.

If Anthony Rizzo is any indication of the kind of player they want on the team, the Cubs will be a good franchise, but building a solid organization is tough and doesn't happen overnight.

Anyone know why the Pirates only played 161 games in 2009?

rainouts aren't made up if there's no feasible way to reschedule them and they don't impact the standings

Finishing 80-81 some year is the next hilarious place the Pirates losing streak should go

thanks for the info.

the pirates agree with me, bsaeball season is waaay too damn long. If the season was over 51 games ago, they'd be in first place.

I think with 10 games left in the season both the Brewers and the Pirates were thinking, How did we end up here?

The Cubs and Astros combined have only won eight more games than the Reds.

The pirates read the script. 3 years now, allstar break somewhere near the top. by September...not so much....

You've been sold the Kool Aid. They arent even trying to rebuild. Their Farm system is mid pack in the BEST ratings list. How does this make you feel they are on their way to improvement?

/ They just dumped payroll and raised prices on stuff. Then they TOLD you they were rebuilding while they brought in 14 borderline major leauge utility guys.
// They could at least TRY to win. or at least try to LOOK like they are trying to field a major leauge team. a normal LAST place team would be good.

Last year they had 3 prospects in the MILB.com's top 100. They graduated one (Rizzo) and now have 6. That is progress. Rebuilding takes place in the minors, then the majors.

In rebuilding, it doesn't matter where you are currently - it matters where you are currently compared to where you were a year ago.

If your only argument is the tired "kool aid" catchphrase, you probably don't have a good argument.

Just because they took over doesn't mean that the minor leagues magically have new players, scouts, and coaches. That takes time.

5-6 years down the road, they're going to be good - the business model is in their favor. What remains to be seen is if Cubs fans, who have legendary patience, will stick with the team during the rebuild.
