Washing instead of wiping is much more sanitary.

If she was using street drainage ditch runoff instead of city tap water, she might get a crazy label in my book.

Otherwise, nothing wrong with thinking how to undo what we've been brainwashed into doing, because some marketing guy's plan to sell something somehow became the norm.

I'm one of the cheapest, most frugal people there is...but wow.

The best household money-saving tip I've come across is to actually plan your week's meals in advance, and buy only what you plan on eating (including leftovers for lunch). It saves on impulse purchases and cuts down on stuff going bad in the fridge.

I don't understand why washing oneself after using the bathroom instead of wiping with paper is such a weird concept to Americans. Billions of people around the world use water instead of paper. However, this woman is disgusting for showing her act on tape and going into detail using such language like "taking a dump". She could have just discussed it in a much more sophisticated way. Also saving six dollars over not doing laundry is utterly retarded.

Oh, and hand washing your clothes is still doing laundry.

Wiping your ass with paper instead of washing with water is disgusting when you think about it.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't think the problem is necessarily that she doesn't use toilet paper. There are plenty of cultures that wash after using the toilet, as crazy as that sounds to Americans.

Rather, I think the problem here is that she has no class, as evidenced not only by her actions but also by her use of language. "After I take a dump" is something I'd expect a punk teenager to say, not a grown woman. She is the lowest of the low and disgusting.

And to what end is she skimping to this degree? This seems self-imposed rather than a problem of income. At the end of the month, what is that 6 dollars she's saved going to do for her? Somehow she's gone off the rails and needs some serious help.

NIXON YOU DOLT!!!!!: So everybody should just shiat first thing in the morning and then hop in the shower?

You could. There's also the standalone bidet, the Japanese-style washlet magic, the old standby lota/dipper/water bottle, or what is now getting to be the most common option (commonly used from Bangkok to Helsinki to Rio de Janeiro)... the bum gun:

Besides the obvious India and China, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are in the top ten largest countries on Earth. I'm going to suggest that well over half of people use water and their left hand, not TP, and the ratio is probably closer to 3:1.

That's because it works. I've been on the underwear line of an institutional laundry. People:

Agreed that 'dump' is a classless term. That said I took an assignment where I could work from home most days, then jokingly told the guys in the office they'd still see me everyday when I came in to take dump because it would save me on toilet paper.

In all seriousness though, how much time does it take to her to save $6 a month. 5 minutes per day to wash clothes in the shower x 30 days is 2.5 hours a month for $6. That time would be better spent calling up and fighting your cable/internet/phone bill monthly it would take less time and save more. Or get a second job on the weekend.

we can thank Morton Downey Jr for pioneering trash talk TV in the 1980's. there have been many since, some in disguise as otherwise but they too are exploiters. i cringe knowing what the rest of the world must think of americans when they see the content of our television broadcasts and the people on these shows.

---it's good to be a wise steward to your money. it's commendable to be frugal with your coin. it's another thing to go through life as a cheapskate.

Is that soap free? Because toilet paper is so relatively cheap that unless you are using free soap, you're probably coming out about even.

Uhhhhh...huh. Well....

The entire point of being frugal is that you spend less on the things that matter less so you have more to spend on the things that matter more. Spend less on a car and clothes and electronics and food so you have more to spend on a home and family and such. It's about living beneath your means so you can afford to do the things you want to do.

This does not seem anything like this. This seems like a weird OCD.
