Hon, if you're not busy winning, you're just busy losing.

For you it is, Willard. If you win the debates, you probably will lose the election. But if you lose the debates, you will DEFINITELY lose the election.

You're going to lose the election. You'll probably lose the debates too. But you have a lot of money, so that's nice, I suppose.

As much as I think he's a cretin, I agree with the words if not the sentiment. They're not playing air hockey up there. There's no scoreboard where every ZING is two points. Every viewer, pundit and news outlet is going to declare a "winner" based on their own baggage they brought themselves. Having said that, Mitt's going to have his ass handed to him.

It's not about winning or losing the debates, it's about paying your sons a large enough salary out of the PAC funds that they can launder at least 85% of it through the Caymans.

Mugato: Mitt's going to have his ass handed to him.

According to who though? Are there really any people left who haven't made up their minds yet? According to Republicans Mitt will win hands down.. everything stupid he says will be agreed to by the right. The talking heads on Fox will discuss how spot on everything he said was and how wrong everything Obama said was. Just like all the polls are "equal" and Romney is only 1 point behind Obama... forgetting the fact there is an electoral system. Unicorns and rainbows baby..

The geek in me would love to see an actual Lincoln-Douglas debate style between these two. Then a real winner would be concluded instead of biased reporters stating their side won because they heard a zinger that made them clap their hands like a f*cking seal.

What we have now is not a debate format, it's just a shiatty volleying of speeches.

It's also a strange mentality. "My position is not going to be a better one than the president's so it would lose in a debate". Or worse "I cannot as a representative of my beliefs use a public platform to convince others of their worthiness, but I'd still like that position anyways".

WTF.

2012-10-02 08:27:02 AM
So it's about how you play the game,Willard? Uh huh. Well,in that case, you've been faring quite poorly-and the next three debates will do little to change that.

Yes, if you can figure out how to get that much into an IRA despite the annual contribution limits.

It's quite easy if you know how to do it and have the resources available to make it happen.

Say you have a portfolio worth $20,000,000. You have your lackys in the valuation business value those assets at $5000 and roll them into an IRA. Wallah..

There are, but I don't think they're going to end up deciding this election because they look too closely split. Romney would need almost all of them to swing key states. No, I think this time Mitt is going to have swing tepid Obama voters over to his side, and there are definitely a lot more of those this time around. It's an uphill fight and will probably rely more on Obama screwing up than on Romney doing something spectacular.

How the f*ck did that happen anyway? Wouldn't he have had to start investing during the last Ice Age in order to accumulate that much?

Its not really about winning of losing. Its about which candidate gets their head cracked open so the audience can feast on the goo inside.

Again, this is part of the normal course of reducing expectations before a debate. You do it because you can hedge against a bad performance, and if you did well, it makes you look better.

"In my view it's not so much winning and losing or even the people themselves, the president and myself - it's about something bigger than that," Romney told a cheering crowd of thousands.

true - it's about watching Romney lose badly, then trying to salvage as much as he can without setting his hair on fire in the process.

blah. both sides are gonna claim victory no matter what. that said - I suspect Obama will be the winner in all three debates. Even if Romney somehow manages to pull off a miracle and briefly act like a normal human being and NOT like a sociopath devoid of all normal emotions he STILL only manages to break even.

It's still a pretty dumb strategy for either candidate. Sure we're electing which person to have their finger on the button in the case of something like the Cuban Missile Crisis, but they might not appear presidential or say something idiotic during a two-hour debate full of softball questions and rehearsed answers. Doesn't put much faith in either guy in that context.

Between Mittens "Flip-Flop" R'Money trying to distance himself from his record, and Obama unable to play teleprompter tennis, it'll be difficult to say who will win. Obama on issues alone, sure, but I donno.

Well, let's be fair.. at this point it's about not making himself out to be a complete fool. He doesn't know it but the only reason his Republican handlers are even messing with it at this point is so he doesn't do so bad he depresses Republican turn out which affects down ballot races as well

While I would love if if Mitt performs so god-awfully bad that not even the Fox News spin machine can polish the turd, he will most likely be somewhere between "terrible" and "meh", with a few sound bites that, played out of context, will look like "hits" on Obama.

I think Romney is basically a hacker, but instead of looking for vulnerabilities in operating systems and browsers, he looks for holes in tax and finance laws and practices and exploits them.

Funny thing is that Obama is the only one really stressing out about the debate. There are news stories about his "intense" debate training, he's putting off his 20 wedding anniversary party with his wife and he has shifted his foreign policy duties to Hillary. Thank god he didn't send Biden! That may be one of the best decisions Obama has made since taking office.
