A real winner. Entered himself in the Philadelphia Daily Mail's Sexy Singles competition a few years back, saying he was "sick of meeting women that act like girls." He has shot a guy dead breaking up a robbery, and got stabbed in the back in a bar fight, while off duty.

I'd say he has issues.

The guy deserves a cockpunch just for the nipple ring.

spqr_ca: This is why you have to resist all attempts to prevent photography and videography in public of Police. Without this video, this guy gets away with it, with the video she probably gets a hefty payout and he'll probably lose his job. Which he should.

They keep trying... A few years ago, some city tried to cite a guy because he had security cameras outside his house, and the one in front of his door caught the cops being douche-nozzles. The city tried to claim it was a violation of the right to not be recorded without consent, ignoring the fact that the cameras either shot on the guy's public property, or of an area visible to the public, which are both legal areas to record in. The city eventually lost.

This doesn't mean that the cops don't keep trying, though. I've recently seen footage of them trying to stop someone on the street by merely saying that it was illegal to record police officers.

Put it on pay per view and give the proceeds to the woman.

I'd nominate an Opie Winston

I'd... I'd do him. We might have to argue over top and bottom, like I mean wrestle around in an angry way and seize each other with our strong thigh muscles and roll over and over until , but yeah. i could knock out that ashy skin with a little coco oil and some intensity, just sayin'.

Richard Saunders: Although his method of controlling the suspect was a bit farked up, when she turned away from him, she did have what appeared to be a can of Silly String in her left hand and can be seen laying on the ground at her feet after being cold-cocked.

/wrong response
//right asshole

Actually:
1. She did have what appeared to be SOMETHING in her hand. The only people who can look at that video and call it anything specific besides a cylindrical object are those completely unbelieveable jack-nuts on TV shows and movies who take 7-11 footage and "enhance" it to count how many whiskers someone 400 yards from the camera has. The rest of us see a pixellated "something".

2. FTFA: At the same time, a young woman is walking past - who also gets hit by the liquid.
As she turns around to see where it came from
, a police officer in a white shirt - which means he has acquired the rank of sergeant - comes towards the woman and delivers a brutal punch to her face, knocking her to the ground.

3. Even if she WAS carrying a can of silly string, and even if she HAD sprayed it at people, that in no way whatsoever justifies battery by ANYONE. We have laws and a justice system for a reason, and ironically, the police are supposed to be the mature ones that only use forces when it is absolutely necessary.

clyph: LaughingRadish: This is why I say that there should be cop insurance. Can't get insurance? Can't work as a cop.

For that to work, you'd need to change the rules on sovereign immunity, eliminate the "good faith" loophole, and prohibit the Nuremberg defense in misconduct cases.

As it stands now, cops have near zero personal criminal or civil liability for anything they do in the line of duty. You can almost never sue an individual cop - the best you can do is sue the entire department.

Sounds like a good thing to work towards. How about we get some ballot proposition petitions going towards that end?

Officially, the signal would be broadcast only in places vulnerable to espionage, and maybe movie theatres.

In reality, the signal will be used by corrupt law enforcement.

Everyone knows this will be the outcome, but Apple's engineers and managers and marketing people proceeded to implement it anyway. Should get a good raise and bonus out of it, maybe a promotion. Nobody ever accused humanity of overthinking the long term consequences.

This is why Android.

I wonder if that had something to do with the 10 other cops standing right there. If this guy would sucker-punch a woman in front of a big crowd AND several other cops, what the hell would he do to someone if no one was looking?

And I bet none of those other police officers saw a thing.

So, if Google put the same feature in, and used it per law enforcements request... Apple could sue them?

Voodoo Doughnut, but you probably don't have one of those in your area, so Dunkin. A cruller, please. :-)

However, I've noticed that when it comes to breaking news CNN is the last source I'd check. They always seem to lag behind MSNBC, Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC and the local news feeds when it comes to breaking news.

It is an evolving area but as noted, there is a trend in the courts saying you can record video of police in public and the word is slowly filtering down through the ranks that recording in this situation does not justify confiscating the device or arresting the person recording. Recording of audio is more complicated with some states allowing it when only one party consents, others requiring the consent of both parties (why corporate phone systems sometimes warn you the call may be recorded).

It is obvious when you watch the video that she didn't throw anything at the cops and the cop just turned and out of anger hit the closest civilian to him. But you can tell that she saw the water hit the cops and tried to turn around and get the hell out of there because she knew what was about to happen.

But even more disturbing than the cop hitting her is how the other cops stood around after he knocked her the fark out like nothing even happened.

You are quite right. If this had been a case of legitimate brutality the victims body would shut itself down in such a way to make it imperious to pain or injury.

I play in a beer league that has a couple of cop-centric teams in it; they are, by far, the most violent players in a no-check league that you could imagine. It's no fun to play them.

Every little bump or 50/50 puck seems to result in confrontation.

2012-10-02 12:54:41 AM
The thing that bothers me the most about videos like this is that, in a just world, the other cops should have arrested him on the spot. The thin blue line pisses me off. I know for a fact that at least one of those other cops was bothered by this, but knew they couldn't do anything about it.

Most inaccurate? The first page of a google on police unions political endorsements shows one Republican endorsement, one no endorsement, and the rest Democratic endorsements (plus police regretting they endorsed Scott Walker).

4tehsnowflakes: and the word is slowly filtering down through the ranks that recording in this situation does not justify confiscating the device or arresting the person

Isn't it a shame that this is even a debate? WHen I was a kid, a part of our Social Studies education about America was the fact that our public officials, including the police, were supposed to be held accountable by the public. Something like being able to film or tape police made sense, even in the 70's and 80's before the tech really existed.

Of course, the saddest part is the fact that this cop helps ruin it for the legitimate cops out there, and despite what farkers claim, there are plenty of good cops out there, people who became cops for the RIGHT reasons, shiat like this just makes more and more people become convinced that every single cop is dirty.
